The "Boom Chicka Boom" Camp song is taught to the campers by Katie Wendlandt and Izzi Mielke during the opening of the 2013 Art Beat South Camp.
About 100 participants attended the 2013 Art Beat South Camp event held at Upham Woods Learning Center located near Wisconsin Dells.
Friday 3/15/2013 evening offered everyone some time for get acquainted games /recreation campfire songs and a skit that was led by Wisconsin 4-H Alumni Katie Wendlandtandt. and Izzi Mielke.
Workshops began around 8:30am on Sat. 3/16/2013 and the event ended at 3:00pm that day.
Workshops offered this year cover the areas of Photography, Theater Arts, Art Science, ceramic coaster craft and Visual Arts (sock puppets) with a little information and history on Jim Henson and the Muppets.
The Art Beat Program is designed to help promote the Arts in Wisconsin, develop leadership skills as well as prepare the younger 4-H youth for future State Arts Programs, such Art Camp (offered to 6th-8th graders) and Art Camp - camp counselors, Junior Directors are high school to early college grades. Art Teams are 4-H members are that are high school to early college grades that are involved in offering art leadership opportunity at the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Leadership Conference held at UW Madison every year around mid June.
