I'm an IT Technician. I personally don't care if any of my users know or try this. But telling them "not to share with your technician" is pointless and just stupid. Most of the time we want to know what the users did to try to resolve it as it may change our plan of action on how to fix it for good. For instance, if a user runs MRT because they caught malware, we know it probably won't resolve the issue so we know to skip to a second-opinion scanner or reimaging. Or if a user is running out of disk space and deletes the contents of their user temp folder, we know to skip to system wide temp files or browser cache. I'm sick of these "cool gamer bros" acting like we're only out to get people in trouble. In many organizations that is not true, our job is to fix issues. It's HR and the administration you really have to look out for. Something has to be REALLY bad for me to take it to either of them.

Also a technician here, never used MRT since Defender is part of Windows, it's unneeded .Temp Files is common knowledge, Users probably shouldn't be messing with the startup apps and usually don't have rights to anyway, same thing for the other commands, no admin rights so they can't do it. This is only basic OS maintenance for a home computer. Still, wish most users had enough computer knowledge to clean up their own files, or least restart the darn thing correctly.

@ctrl_x1770 In a company where the software is monitored and controlled, turning off certain startup programs can cause security/networking processes to stop working. 1. shouldn’t the malicious software remove tool run automatically? 2. Deleting temp files wont free up that much space. Unless you have a very small hard drive. 3. I have never found any apps in the ”startup” section. Still apps start by themselves 4. Scannow can fix some problems with your computer, but it’s a long shot most of the time. Best way to get rid of malware is to just uninstall them. Usually the ”Virus” is a spam notification from Chrome. If your computer is slow its probably because its too old or there is something wrong with the hardware. It could also be because of a program that is working incorrectly. In that case you need to identify the program and uninstall it.

Right! There's a perfectly safe way. (I do it all the time.) - Go to This PC, ( aka Computer, or My Computer.) - R-click on a drive. - Like, C: - Properties. - General Tab. - Disk Cleanup button. - Don't do anything yet, press "Clean up System Files" button. - Check ONLY these: - Windows Update Cleanup (gets rid of the file already used to update your computer.) - Temp Internet Files - DirectX Shader Cache - Recycle Bin (if you're ready to delete all files in your bin) - Temp Files Do NOT delete the thumbnails, windows just may screw up every icon you have. Viola! Do for all drives. Only C needs the "system files" treatment.
