Who's going to be first to get a set of Dan's attached to a pair of Gumleafs for the ultimate wader? I'm thinking about getting it done.

I can’t wear rubber boots for any length of time!!! Feet sweat through socks 5min into the day even up here in ME in single deg temps. Also my feet are odd sized so I have one foot that’s almost half size smaller then the other and a lotta rubber boots come in full sizes only so blisters abound for me. I’ve worn a bunch of mountaineering style boots like your zamberlans and have settled on Hoffman 10” hunters. What I do to help with height of waterproof to make more like rubber boots is I wear gaiters. I put them under my pants and then take a titan strap and kind of blouse my pants at the bottom. As long as I’m not standing still in river water doesn’t real come in. Not perfectly waterproof like rubber but good trade off for me and helps with my bad knee to adding support. Had a pair of Cabelas miendl boots for 15yrs and they felt better then my expensive running sneakers!!!

Ridge line supply makes a nice durable briar proof hip boot. I’ve got the Dunlop Airgo boots on mine, extremely lightweight and affordable.

Earlier in the summer I wanted to buy Rubber boots that have the Neoprene on top. I bought the Muck Edgewater boots. ❤️ the outer soles for scaling quietly on bark climbing since I'm a saddle hunter. The boot is light, great insole, low profile has that tag on the back that I put paracord around to hang them. My March & April scouting boot was discontinued. They fit my feet like a fine glove. But they have quality issues on the outside. I bought 2 pairs. The 2nd pair I've only wore a few times & I did a JB Weld on the trouble spots. They r the Under Armour Brow Tine 2.0. Do most of my scouting in March & April & never wear anything else. 🥶 deer hunting I wear my LaCrosse Iceman boots. I camo'ed out the black on them & put a layer of clear-coat over them. I ride a fat-tire bike in the 🥶 weather so I'm not walking miles with them a day. If I need waders which isn't often I have my trusty lightweight Field & Stream polyester waders with a nylon shell. I use an old pair of Kamik boots w/o the wool liners that have the drawstring on top. These waders r pretty form fitting in a size medium. Also have a little mesh pouch that u keep inside which can hold a 📱 & license with a small knife. That's it. Remember, take care of your feet & have the right tool for the job & take care.

I've got some lacrosee boots that are warm and comfy but i walk so much in the fall and winter that Ive already worn hole in the side where the neoprean is. Gumleaf will be something I may get in the future. I use some Hodgman waiters from Walmart. They are not the best for a lot of walking. Bad ankle and foot support but have decent insulation. Not good with briars either.

The one I have are $280. Which I know it still pretty expensive. BUT if they last more than 1 year I'll be money ahead. I usually trash a couple pairs of cheaper boots a year.

Thanks for the vlog Josh! Got a pair of old 3/4 Firefighting boots I use for water crossings. They are getting a little old, hope the Grangers boot care will help them from dry rotting! I’ll have to try it out!

Dans 5star hip boots are the way to go ,they are beyond durable ,almost imposiblle to damage -those u have are way too heavy and not needed for anykind of brush but maybe better for snakes etc. the 5star material is soft and doesnt need to get worked in ,cant even feel them on almost -im in the northeast briar jungle and cant seem to damage them over a few years -the only problem is that they outlast the boots

Mink oils & conditioners will eat at the Threads in your boots and around the sole of the boot if over used. i used to use mink oil & found if I added it to the boot new that I wouldn't get half the time I would if I had just bought the boot & wore it as is. ( just sharing my experience it took me some years to figure this out) & for the conditioners for the rubber boots never have tried it is it actually to help condition the boot & rubber for longer use or is it to make them shine?
@beforetheecho

I do it 1 or 2 times a year. Used to use mink oil with no issues. The rubber boot conditioner prevents uv deterioration and keep the rubber soft to prevent cracking.

Those GumLeafs don't fit you. They're too big around the calf. This is my #1 complaint about them - and rubber boots in general. The fit is awful. If the fit around the calf is sloppy, like it was in that vid of you walking, than the boot doesn't fit. Period, full stop, end of story. That slop is going to let in rain or water running down your pants from wet brush which will get your feet wet - which defeats the whole reason for rubber boots. They'll let in debrits, leaf litter, etc when you're walking... The most important thing when it comes to footware is FIT. I have no idea why people "love" boots that don't fit them... We need to demand better from these manufacturers. 300+ dollars for a boot and it should fit like a glove AND come with a voucher for a steak dinner, an escort to keep you company, and some tokens for the slot machines or something. 300+ for a sloppy boot that doesn't fit is crap. I'm surprised to see you recommend them actually..
