in the mid 70's I was in junior high school, I wanted to play the trumpet so bad I could taste it until my mother brought in a 45 of Boots playing "the shadow of your Smile"That started a lifelong love affair with the tenor sax, I was first chair tenor and alto for 6 years, my sax kept me sane on 2 major Navy deployments and I just bought another one after wearing out 3. God I love that horn.

have the original record 33 in the basement in mint condition from the 60s my grandma loved to play these songs but she moved at the time and broke her record player and never bought a new one so later in the 70s my great grandma bought her one and then later my grandma gave it to my grandpa in the 80s after not having the time to play records and so after my grandpa died in 2012 the record player was no longer in any use then last year I found it in my basement by my grandpa's associate desk as he would sell properties and would be management of selling properties eventually got fired from a jealous rival property seller and when I found his old record player by his old tv stand behind a clothes rack and also hanging clothes I decided "i should give this thing a chance as if I don't it will never get a chance and people and my kids would never know what a record player does, and how it works and so I learned a little more and more about it as being a 14 year you are a bit curious messed with speed wondering how they worked and also messed with the spots the needle or stylus would land on a 45 or 33 or a 75 as it's a 12 7 and a 3 and eventually got into mechanic freed up the turntable a bit with wd40 and with a little more discovery I found out how the record changer works that seemed to be the last thing to figure out

my certain record player is all originally as it is a rare model as most will have the cassette tape put on by mine isn't as it will have the 8 track player stereo and record player it's certain record player is called the zenith allergo solid state and it's not the one in like a cabinet area it's the small boxy type with a plastic lid shaped into a box to protect any records on the turntable from dust but also keeps it clean longer and don't have to dust it a lot but when I found it, it never had it plastic box lid as I see in pictures but when my grandpa died my big cousin came to collect important records and were NOT AT ALL CAREFUL WITH IT as I realise now but putting fingers on record and then just sliding it down the metal rod to set it and picking up the needle instead of using the lever on the side to not scratch the record was terrible I realise now but yeah I got over that and just happy it's here for the family to listen to

Issued Originally as "Boots Randolph's Yakety Sax",a collection of his '50's singles put out probably by the Demanding of RCA's A&R Man Chet Atkins,in 1960.

Michael Boyce Not all of the tunes on this Lp appear on the RCA Lp. That's why I uploaded all three of his RCA Lps. Each one had some unique tracks on them. I uploaded them all just so I could preserve the integrity of the albums, even though they share some of the same tracks.

+slug stucker Right on! That's getting harder and harder as the years wear on. Finding something like this at a thrift shop is almost impossible these days. I found the copy in this video at a flea market in the '90s... for a buck! Even back then, that was rare! Good job!

Do you have "Guest Star Records Presents Boots Randolph" or "Hip Boots" - both from 1964?
@Jason1920
2 жыл бұрын
Yes... I have both! That "Guest Star" record sounds so bad, I'd be embarrassed to post it! (Might do it for historical context, though.) And... not only do I have "Hip Boots 1970," but my copy is signed. My Grandmother knew Boots. I'm pretty sure he gave it directly to her.

@@Jason1920 Well - then I'm subbing! - in case you upload them. I had to halt my Boots study because I couldn't find those albums anywhere. He's worth studying! There's always a track or two on any album of his that's good by any standard. And he had real chops. If you could pal around with Chet Atkins - you were a serious musician! I got interested in Boots because I found his Christmas CD in a bargain bin. And the very last track on it is a jazz knock-out. It's like he and his pals decided to get serious for the closing track - and they nailed it. So that got me interested in him. He could be very good when he wanted to be. He did a Gospel album in '68 that's amazing! That's his best record. It's perfect!
