That's a good one. I spray Ortho "whatever sauce" onto my foundation each Spring to keep the ants from coming into the kitchen and (ultimately) eating the dry cat food we put down. I think this year..it'll be borax & sugar.

Might not be a bad idea to do both, if the poison is outside, better than inside. It seems like I’ve got to do this borax thing once a year.

Any particular ratio? I am always concerned that too high of a ratio of borax to sugar will make the bait unattractive, so I am probably erring too far the other way. The ingredients are not particularly toxic in small amounts, so I could taste-test it, but I am not an ant, so that wouldn't really tell me anything. I have always dissolved the sugar and borax in water, but apparently that isn't necessary. Maybe a holdover from dissolving borax in honey (sugar works and is cheaper). I find that my baits dry out (not so much with honey), which makes sense, resulting in a solid anyway. Maybe I don't even need to add water when they do. Or even use water at all. I just figured that having a uniform solution, as opposed to a mixture of granules, will keep the ants from tasting a pure borax granule, going "bleaugh" and making the whole bait unattractive.

I’ve never really measured, I feel like it’s usually something like 50-50. It seems like it always works. if I just put the two together and give it a shake hope this information is helpful.👍
