Dat Detroit Dude What a perfect satirical one liner, in a satirical sitcom about excess. Was an amazing satirical movie about America at the time and still is/applies. Then 10 years later with the same Director, Writer and same Composer they did a victory lap with Starship Troopers which is similar in so many ways, just different source material they used for the story to inject with satire about fascism and war/war propaganda. The original book was amazing too but was different and very serious. The movie went over every reviewers heads back at the time of release 1997, the studio didn't even know what it was...selling kids toys thinking it was some star wars, sci fi like independence day clone *cringe*. Some fans in the last decade or so as of today, actually celebrate the fascism and propaganda of the Starship Troopers movie not realizing its satire and thinking its praising fascism and war some trolling some not realizing the difference. You'll always run that risk that even if you are making fun of an ideology or replicate it you'll attract fans of said idealogy thinking its being celebrated and to be cheered on. I celebrate it in a perfect satire, action, and sci fi model SFX, STILL looks amazing (as well as lots more story elements, like how they advertise a defense system for asteroids coming from another star system sent as a war provocation being decimated...yet what ends up happening?? Yeah. It was a straight up lie they could shoot it out of the sky to where it was decimated or thats how it was advertised well as propaganda or *tinfoil hate time conspiracy time* let it happen for more war, war never ending. With satire and satire about fascism and other topics that may attract edgy types (edgy jokes are fine and can be funny) You'll always risk people mistaking satire as celebration instead, or it flying over their head I guess. Anyways, yeah long rambling post about two of my favorite Paul Verhoeven films RoboCop and Starship Troopers, Total Tecall too!! And in the same genre/same vein as aforementioned films Demolition Man. As for the RoboCop remake...big meh, no real villain was the main problem but lots of other problems imo, but who could live up to Clarence Bodicker as a villain. To me, Dredd (2012 I believe) was the real RoboCop remake and the OG RoboCop was inspired by the Judge Dredd comics. Anyways long tangent/rant about one of my passions...another being Detroit and Detroit Electro from the 80s and 90s (Cybotron, Drexciya (RIP James Stinson), Underground Resistance, Dopplererrekt (Gerald Donald keepa killin' it) and all related Detroit Electro is a huge passion as well as Detroit hip hop Danny Brown, Slum Village & J Dilla (RIP Dilla) solo beats/releases and collabs/beats for others!!) Anyways I agree tho... I'd buy that for a dollar!!!!

I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR! Seriously, though, I defend RoboCop 2. Is it as good as the first? No, but how many sequels are? It's still a good watch and far less pathetic than RoboCop 3. Hate that one all you want, but RoboCop 2 still has some of the RoboCop magic.

I like the joke, it's a bit of a easy pickin’, low hanging fruit joke. I still appreciate it though because of my love of play on words type jokes. This is the kind of ”pun” I like over the other kind (yeah, there is more than one kind of pun) that are really simple like the kind you usually hear on the news about a bear or some weather pun.

@SoulKiller7Eternal *you're* Sorry, couldn't resist. But you shouldn't call people idiots for having differing opinions. It's subjective I personally believe RoboCop 3 is easily the least worthy, but that's my opinion. Yours is that it's the best. I disagree, but I could never say you're wrong because there IS no right and wrong when it comes to being subjective. I can't imagine how you see #3 as superior to the all-encompassing awesomeness of #1, but feel free to.

Brett Soyars It was an older era of KZitem (standards were a bit more relaxed, think of the first upload ever), and if I remember correctly it was due to some compression/codec error. The main joke I wanted to share was shared. The mayor says something like paraphrasing "I have come and showed up/showed support for Detroit and so have you" referring to the telethon for money from a crooked mayor for Detroit on TV with a contortionist fiddle/violin player who breaks it at the end!!! Haha which was all I really wanted to share/show as I think its perfectly hilarious/satirical in a sad yet hilarious way. But yeah it was giving up/laziness on my end as well, but I couldn't figure out the error at the time and conveyed the main video/joke I wanted. Hope I answered your question. Have a great evening/night/morning/day wherever you are. Nothing but happiness and love: friend/viewer/possible subscriber??

@SoulKiller7Eternal Again, that's your opinion, but I agree that the story at least rounds off the franchise in a logical, satisfying manner. I just think almost everything else feels like the sort of bland Hollywood sequel nobody ever remembers. #2 is a bit of a mess as well, I think because it was made by mashing several scripts together, but it's my view that it at least maintains the darkly satirical feel of the original, whereas #3 strikes me as lacking in that respect.

@Tryzon Whoa, RoboCop was the best of all three movies. RoboCop 3 doesn't come close to the magic of one, thats true. The actor of number three was good though...but you can't say it isn't good because they followed the story line. They showed a decaying city in evolution in every single movie. One, it is the start, Two, it gets much worse. Three, it is a war zone. You can't show me ANY movie series today that compares to that amazing follow-up of detail.

SoulKiller7Eternal Spoilers obviously, for decades old movies and references to the remake and Dredd... RoboCop is the best for it's narrative, direction and Basil's original score and theme. Robocop 2 is the best for some of its satirical advertisements (as was 1) and montage of different versions of Robocop 2s was hilarious. Also I believe the Chris Cunningham directed music video for the Aphex Twin song/video with the TV was influenced/an homage to Kane or literal Robocop 2s face/monitor. The third movie sucked for adults at the expense of making it kid friendly for merchandise/toys and having serious pacing issues and nor being rated R. But the best scene is and one of its redeeming qualities is the Splatterpunks versus the police with other citizens and Robocop with the upgrades and when he swoops in with the jet pack with the theme, but the villains sucked overall. If rated R The martial law or the militarized police would have been so much more than how cheesy it is these days, and those robot ninjas, that's what RoboCop 1987 could have/woulda been without Verhoeven and Ed Nuemier The actor did the best he could in 3, I'm glad Peter Weller did Naked Lunch. But in RC 3 hacking ED-209 was a novel/cool idea that seemed at the time better in a way than the little girl in Jurassic Park at the end, or Hackers but Hackers is great anyways. But 3 pales in comparison to the first 2 and the fact that in the beginning of 2 he is wearing his robototic "head" just shits all over the character arc of Robocop 1 and him finding his "humanity" and bonding with Lewis (sp?). He wasn't a robot but a cyborg, and it's a total arc from Murphy to Robocop to Murphy again and getting justice on not only Clarrence Bod... But Dick Jones and fucking up ED-209 and OCPs bottom line where he showed it's many flaws. If he showed up without his robo helmet it would make sense narrative wise but I'm just nitpicking now. As far as the remake the fact they had him interacting with his family and the car, and all the many problems with it including the lack of any villain who compared to that of 1 or 2 just made it so boring. Only decent moments were wizard of oz references, the fan service for the trailers with of colors versus a more tactical look and the narrative just sucked horribly. I think it should have never been remade, especially as pg13 and if it would gave been directed by Chris Cunningham with Autechre making the original score I think that would have been amazing. FUCK even a Robocop Vs. Terminator with Weller and Arnie would have been interesting. I watched the remake more than 5 times, it has so many problems, I understand not doing a remake like Psycho from 97 where it's exactly alike is the wrong approach but so is the shit that ended up occurring. I saw it in the theater and purchased the bluray. It's now a coffee table disc for my cans. There were so many interesting things they could have done with it. Such a disappointment. Imo Dredd is the Robocop remake. It's what it should have been, and the fact the original was inspired by the judge Dredd comics it's just my personal idea of RoboCop remake.
