I used the older Bose L1M2 with both the B1 and B2 bass systems and the Tonematch T1 I used the system on many hundreds of gigs, I cant tell you the amount of compliments from audience members AND other musicians on how great the system sounded. The T1 makes it easier by far but you have to have some eq-ing knowledge to get the most out of the system. The great thing about the Bose was I got to hear what my audience heard and the volume was almost exactly the same at the back of the venue as it was on the stage. If I was still gigging I wouldnt want to perform on anything else, that includes full conventional pa systems. Ive owned and performed on many different systems. Currently I have a set of 12in powered EV's and a Mackie Pro FX mixer for personal use.

Very interesting. I've used the Bose L1s for a large wedding reception in an airplane hangar and the sound and coverage was good, especially for the "traditional" music I was using. In that case, the bride had a very specific playlist. She is a harpist and the Bose also works very well for harp amplification. Many speakers struggle with harp. On the other hand, I am an EV fanboy, and I still like the sound quality of EV speakers better than the Bose. I think EV was late to the stick speaker party because they took their time developing it to get it right, and I'll take EV over JBL or others any day.

Hello Aaron, I'm a fan of your channel and I love your videos. Except that today I am very disappointed with the result. First the test should have been done in a useful room for us. (like DJs use for parties). Spend more time on the particularities of the sound with the same songs for comparisons. The place for the test and the structure of your video is not helpful because between you and me, the number of seconds that separates when we go up or undo the set-up is much less important than deepening the tests of the music which would have could be done. Thanks for reading me !

Great video and very entertaining. I do wish you had played the same song on both speakers, but other than that, very good. You pointed out everything that is important to us as mobile DJs. I think we are in a good time as DJs, because (as people pointed out below) there are thousands of combinations available to us. We are not limited to a few brands and a few speakers. We can get 8"-15" tops combined with 12"-21" subs (four 21" in one cabinet by BassBoss), limited only by your budget or what you are willing to sacrifice. Some DJs drive to gigs in $80,000 Sprinter vans, while others use the family mini van. They both get you to the gig. The person driving the Sprinter has $80,000 less to spend on speakers. All these speakers will perform well in most conditions. They are all good, but some are great. However "great" is subjective. Use your ears to determine what's best and take a few other people with you when you are making the decision. Then buy the best you can reasonably afford or need, depending on where you perform and what you do as a DJ. Your guests don't get a side by side comparison. They only get to hear what you purchased.

From my limited experiences, they are equivalent however Bose has even less midrange do to driver size but the sub also more lowend it’s a bigger driver (physics)! Bose does seem the most fragile and it’s closer to a traditional speaker set up! If It’s just about output yeah bose has it but set up features ease of use I give it to ev! I recommend neither for any event over 75 people or in a room with capacity of over 100 for a dancing type party! Anything larger and Two 15 inch subs and 10 inch tops will have more output in Every way and is only minimally larger and is really maybe 10 mins of additional set up!

I wonder if Bose needs to lead with the name of a product line. Something like "Eventmax by Bose" but with a name that sounds way cooler. They don't need to hide that they're Bose like Comcast tries to do with "Xfinity," but maybe letting the product line name lead will make people go, "oh, this is new and different. @@AaronStrawn true, when you have the high quality sound it reduces the noise. Not that I have experience with that. I don’t DJ enough to justify upgrading from my $400 EV ZLX 12p to the $1800 EV evolve 50s so for now I’ll work with good enough

I have both. The 50s sound like toys compared to the 32s. I use the EVs 70% of the time though. The Bose are not needed for medium to small weddings.

Have you tried one Bose with 2 sub 2s? I’ve done this for 2 mid sized weddings and it was perfect

I’m starting out as a solo DJ this up coming month. In your opinion, do you think the Bose pro 32 is enough to handle a small wedding (around 100 guests) on its own? Is there a noticeable difference if you get 2 sub 2’s to go with one column?

You could definitely get away with (1) Pro 32 for 100 guest as long as the room isn’t huge. Many times people go by guest count; room size is a huge factor. You definitely need either a Sub 1 or Sub 2 per Pro 32. Almost zero low mid or bass from the tower.

I've def done that size with one. BUT 2 subs are the way to go with one stick. The only worry for you would be that you have no backup just in case something happens. Always keep that in mind. When I take just the one, I keep my Everse 8 or JBL MK2 with me as a backup

The Pro32 column can outperform one Sub2 so bringing two can get you more. I usually run two for a built in backup, but have done weddings with only one.

Two EV50 are not much more than the price of 1 Bose, and a pair of RCF J8 are cheaper yet. Why pay the Bose tax when you're just starting out?

mind you per sub/tower bose is what $1k more expensive per side would have loved to hear a EV200 12/18 sub comparison

Aaron, maybe not your wheelhouse but do you see any significant reason to get a 50M over a 30M for a solo musician? I use guitar amp simulators and play blues music with a foot board thing in Florida so it’s mostly outdoor and open air places. Some are decent sized spaces. Don’t gotta be blasting loud but still. Should I just get the bigger one since I’ll cart it anyway, is the difference that great if the sub lows aren’t gonna be used much?

If you're doing outdoor, I'd go with the 50. I think you'd rather have extra headroom then run out.

If you can handle the extra weight I'd go with the 50m. I'm a solo singer/guitar guy and love my 30m. I might have scaled up but I just can't handle lugging the 50m sub up and down my 3-story walkup. No complaints with my 30m but if you're mainly outside you're gonna want that extra oomph.

The Evox12/Maui 44 are great for 5k but the RCf TT505 over 808 is smaller, louder and cleaner just twice as expensive. There is always something better out there.

you should do test with more music genres. All column speakers I tested sounds really terrible with rock music in comparsion with classsic sub and top speaker

@@AaronStrawn If you mean your phone is your recorder. then are you saying you think you making speaker reviews is pointless? Then I would ask why waste your time? If you were assuming I was listening on a phone. I am using Shape 50s. But let's say your listener was on a phone. Using the same song clip on Speaker A and Speaker B you can still distinguish differences in Highs and lows. You as a DJ I would hope know my comment is correct not sure why you responded as such. Guess that's the route you chose Good luck with your channel M8
