What’s nice about Bose is - “It’s automatically MIND-BLOWING out of the box”…. I bought them for a friend last Christmas and all she said was “WoW”…. I just bought them for myself because Bose is automatically incredible - just because it’s Bose. I have owned the Bose SL111 portable speaker for almost 5 years and it’s still beyond belief in sound quality. As far as all these “Piddly’’ specs - Who Cares. If it looks terrible in your front pocket - put it in your back pocket. I don’t need an equalizer either. They sound “WoW” to begin with. Also - Bose just had a great sale and I got mine for $190. “Just buy them - they are Quality Beyond Belief to begin with.”

Great review! I’m a Bose fan and agree with SOME of your “cons”(disclaimer- I’m over 50😫). So in comparison- I have the AirPod Pros and they’re just an excellent overall earbud. Great sound, low profile, excellent noise cancellation, small case. I just returned my Bose Soundsports for replacement/ upgrade to the QC earbuds. The Soundsports just let in too much background noise for me at the gym. This brings me to my main opinion about Bose- they are number one in customer satisfaction and stand behind their products. Over the years, if I’ve EVER had any problems with the product, they’ve given me the opportunity to exchange or upgrade at a reduced cost. Other comments- The Bose do stick out a little, but I never had a problem with this design falling out. They do continual updates- example is the recent addition of the volume control and “equalizer” you mentioned being absent. Most importantly, the Bose have the BEST in class noise cancellation and just SOUND fantastic. For listening to any genre of music, they put you right in to the front row. I love listening to great music. That’s why I own Bose.

@@gearupaaron Bose Products I own or have owned kind of surprised me when I added them up. I don’t own any of their high end products. I’ve gotten a lot of them at a discount. Noise cancellation was very good. While driving and on a conference call, road noise was diminished to a faint air sound. Proper fit takes a little effort and sometimes feels like they need adjustment or they’ll fall out. Moving them around often triggers Siri unintentionally which is annoying because it’s loud. The equalizer and finger sweep volume adjustments are excellent. I really like the quick touch 4 levels of noise cancellation. Music is slightly better than the AirPod Pros and can be played at a lower volume because of the better noise cancellation. I will probably use the QC’s mostly for the gym, traveling, and serious music listening. However, the majority of the time, i’ll probably still be using my AirPod Pros. I think they’re the best for every day use. They have nearly as good ANC and sound quality as the Bose. They’re more compact to fit in a pocket and have easy to use finger press functionality. I especially like the automatic text reading. They just seem to have that “joy” factor.

I own the Bose QC earbuds, Samsung (1st generation) earbuds and the Samsung Pro earbuds. Did you ever consider that Bose has fans because they make a very good product? I don't think that the QC earbuds are perfect, but hands-down they are superior to any earbud I have owned. I don't know how the new Sony XM4s perform, but I want to use these earbuds to work out and the Bose earbuds have a secure fit. The Sony's are not great workout earbuds. Here are the positives I have found while using the Bose QC earbuds: 1. Nearly every review places the Bose QC earbuds as the best ANC earbuds. 2. The app has been updated with an equalizer. So your speculation that Bose "has weaknesses" are absurd. 3. I think the comfort is pretty good when you consider that other earbuds go deep into the ear. No earbud is perfectly comfortable. The Bose are much more comfortable that my Samsung Pro earbuds. 4. The battery life is competitive - the Sony XM4s supposedly is better. I never listen to any earbud more than a couple of hours. If I am going to be using headphones for several hours, I use the Bose 700 over-ear headphones which are extraordinarily comfortable. 5. I bought both the Sony XM4s over-ear headphones and the Bose 700 to compare the audio quality. It was no comparison. The Sony's were louder but there sound was muddy. The Bose had MUCH cleaner, more accurate, clear sound and I can hear each instrument more clearly. The bass is amazing and tight, the Sony XM4 bass was loose and mixed with the midrange. For over-ear headphones, Bose was better. I don't know if the Sony XM4 earbuds sound is better than the Bose earbuds, but the sound of the Bose earbuds is exceptional. 6. I don't carry any earbud case around with me in my pocket. I am not sure why anyone would do that. I either have a backpack (for trips) or if I am in the gym, I put the case in my bag. If I am at home, I leave the case at home if I working outside or exercising. So the size of the case doesn't matter to me. I get it that other people do carry the case in their pockets for some indiscernible reason. 7. The volume adjustment on the Bose is the best I have ever used. 8. The Bose earbuds do not require a "hard" touch to adjust them, so I never feel that I have to poke them hard. This is a HUGE deal for me because every other earbud I have owned required "jabbing" them to get them to work. The Bose are a world of quality better. 9. The call quality is supposedly the best in wireless earbuds, but I have not tested that yet. 10. The Bose app has an equalizer, and so you can adjust the sound to your personal preferences. 11. They are big, but I think that they look good (this is subjective). The follow the line of the face and so they don't stick out as much as the Sony XM4s. 12. You CAN use the left earbud by itself with the Bose, I am not sure why you said that you can't. Maybe Bose added that feature. 13. It's easy to take the earbuds out of the case and put them back in. I think your review was fair. I don't think that the Bose QC earbuds are perfect and there are several things I don't like. 1. The Bose app has been buggy, but I have only been using it a couple of days. 2. The earbuds fit snugly in my ear which I like, but they are not perfectly comfortable. But then, no earbud I have ever worn is perfectly comfortable. The first generation Samsung earbuds were more comfortable because they are smaller and lighter, but then they don't have nearly as good ANC and sound quality. So it is a trade off I am willing to make. 3. You have to go to the app to switch sources which is frustrating. With the Bose 700s you don't have to do that. This is a HUGE disappointment, but the Sony XM4s are the same from what I have read. I have read of only one earbud with multipoint connection. 4. I can't get the ANC to adjust by touching the earbuds. I am going to call Bose about this issue. 5. The case is hard to open, which is irritating. However, it's not going to accidently open in my backpack, so that is a big plus. 6. A long press on the left earbud brings up the voice assistant, but it takes too long. It works but is should take less time. So there are a lot of things that irritate me about the Bose QC earbuds, but they succeed in the most important features. The sound quality is second to none, the fit is comfortable and secure (for workouts), the ANC is the best in the business (according to most reviews), the battery life is six hours plus, and that is very competitive with full ANC earbuds. For me, sound quality is a must have and a snug comfortable fit is very important. The ANC is also a big plus. These are really good earbuds and I got them for $200.00 which is a steal. It is interesting the to note that there are thousands of reviews in Amazon for both the Sony XM4 earbuds and the Bose earbuds and the Bose earbuds are rated higher. That means that with over 3000 reviews, a majority of people of all ages rated the Bose QC earbuds higher than the Sony XM4 earbuds. I would suggest that you don't make arrogant assumptions that "people over 50" are the only Bose fans. I am not a Bose fanboy, but the quality of their products is superior to most options out there.

To your comment #4- using different ANC modes- make sure you have the latest Bose App update. There is a section called “Modes” that allows you to have up to 4 ANC quick settings. You can toggle between those 4 by double tapping your left earbud.

@@porterbrass Yes thanks, I appreciate your pointing this out. When I first used the Bose earbuds, the app directed me to that update. It is convenient, but I never use the pass-through mode. The three reasons I bought these were: 1. I want the best ANC available for earbuds. 2. I want accurate clear sound that is well separated from the left and right channel. The sound quality on these earbuds is fantastic. It really does rival over-ear headphone sound quality. 3. I want to wear them when I work out. These are the perfect earbuds for gyms where there is a lot of obnoxious noises.

@@franklong6269 I agree Frank. I just tried them at PF this morning. There’s always loud music playing and I was able to comfortably listen to KZitem and music. I think Bose products produce the most natural sound, and the noise cancellation just enhances that. There’s some serious engineering behind their products. My Bose journey started with my son giving me his pair of QC15s after he upgraded. When the ear pads wore out, I called Bose to get replacement pads and they offered ME an upgrade to the QC35s. For $100 I went for it. I’ve always been amazed with the noise cancellation. They’re amazing when flying. I think generally, the concept of noise cancellation was started by Bose, and they continue to be the leaders. Also, I buy Bose products because I want to support their continual improvement of this amazing technology.

@@porterbrass Yes, once you try the Bose products in person, all of the KZitem reviews which rate the Sony XM4 over-ear headphones better in sound quality are just silly. These reviewers here the louder sound settings of the Sonys and they are seduced into thinking that louder is better. I own the Bose 700s and before I bought them, I purchased BOTH the Sony XM4s and the Bose 700s. I didn't have any predetermined favorite; I was going to keep the best sounding headphones with the best ANC. They both were about the same cost. It did not take me more than a couple of days of testing to determine that the Bose 700s are superior to the Sony XM4s in every respect except in app features. It wasn't even close. I really can't understand why the XM4s are rated so highly in so many reviews.

No hiss/hum for me. Quite often these sounds are equal parts equipment as much as hearing/age. I'm 44 and have done well in hearing tests so far, so I'm thankful for that, at least! Ha-ha!

A lot of people are reporting they have harware issues with left one stop working after a few months? did you experience any of that? or yours Bose QC earbuds are working fine after several months? Thanks.

Nice review.... well if someone wants an excellent noise cancellation in combination with very good balanced bose signature sound in ear buds category then this is it...i dont care for design and bulk case...but god these are not fit for my ear..after some time it is uncomfortable... Can you plz tell me how is the sound and ANC IS when compared with sennheiser momentum2 and also if the same(ANC AND SOUND) is compared with over the ear headphones sony xm 4 or xm3...? Thanks

Hey @Thatsright, thanks for your question... I haven't had a chance to test the XM3 yet, so no proper opinion there, but compared to the Sennheisers, the Bose has better ANC, while sound is really close and slightly different in profile (Bose = balanced; Senns = between technical and warm). If it's a balance of price, sound, and ANC, I'd go for the XM3 buds, though. For some reason, I still love the SQ on these guys.

GearUP with Aaron thanks but i was talking about(an outrageous comparison with )sony wh 1000xm3... how much better is the ANC on sony headphone...thanks again
@gearupaaron

Bose would win just on ANC alone. What helps its case is also the passive isolation, which headphones in general aren't as subjectively better as earbuds.
@hotichor

GearUP with Aaron Well i agree but i think you are the only one who said this ...all other reviewers are saying that headphones passive noise cancellation is better than earbuds so i was like ..waaat...plus due to bigger size better anc tech can be used...anyway thanks for your thoughts and time..👍🏻..

Not sure where you're finding that info... My logic is if you plug your ear with your fingers vs. cupping your ear with your hands, which would passively block out more sound? Again I'm not talking about active NC, which headphones normally trump earbuds.

The left earbud stopped working entirely for my QC Bose. There is nothing more I can do. I have only had mine for a month and a half. Just be for warned that it seems to be a common malfunction in customer questions on bose support site.

extremely large case and the shape is not pocket friendly... This will definitely hurt your legs if it's inside your pocket... Why does bose can't make the earbud and case smaller...
@gc3098

You are buying them for “Sound Quality” - not how the case looks in your pocket. Just add something to the case and hook it to your belt or leave the case in the car. “Are you really going to have them in your ears longer than 6 hours??” Didn’t think so…..

Yes, they should, especially since you can swipe up/down for volume (toggled in Product Control in Settings) and play with the 3-band EQ.

Sony wf1000xm4 is way way better than Bose QC in terms of Anc. And you can not use Bose qc as single earbud. You have to put both of them in your ears to make a phone call.
