Thanks for the “grassroots demo.” Way more informative than any other produced vids 🤙🏼

Thank You! Exactly the kind of demo I was looking for. How far up did you have the bass knob?

For this demo I had to dial back the bass EQ to about the 9 o'clock position because I had the volume dialed way up to around the 3 o'clock position. I have found that once I EQ on my VE-8 pedal that the final EQ on the Bose S1 itself is normally fairly minor depending on the venue/room and the volume. If the volume stays right around 12 o'clock (which is the detent position and pretty much the sweet-spot for the little PA) then I just have to make minor EQ adjustments to the the S1 EQ with very slight boost or cuts to the bass and treble to 'dial in' that particular room. Normally it's just treble up a tiny bit and bass back a tiny bit. As the volume goes up though the S1 tends to get a little 'tubby' or 'flubby' in the low end due to small 6" woofer and dialing back the bass more is required. Same with feedback. Any feedback I experience is always in the low end and dialing back the bass as needed takes care of this as well.

Lol, yeah, well, it's not much but we like it. It's out in the woods. We own 5 acres and are surrounded by a lot more. I'm not much of a lawn guy.

Scott Martin it is a beautiful place. Give thanks, many don’t even have a half acre, much less 5! Thanks for your videos on the S1. I play the violin and decided to buy the S1 to replace my QSC K12...too heavy and powerful for my purposes. Your videos have made me confident of my purchase (not yet received at the time of this post). Keep up the good work.

Bose in Australia refuse to answer this question which is very unprofessional and rude - maybe you can tell me. With the built in bluetooth, can you operate 4 individual speakers to work at the same time?
@YoYoYoHD

Dale Foulser you can...two will have to be wired (slaved) to the other two connected via Bluetooth.

Did the Channel you were plugged into have any clipping? I played an outdoor patio gig last night and had guitar and vocal up to half and the signal light was lighting red often.

No clipping. But we run both the mic and guitar through a Boss VE-8 and set the input gains and output volumes to nominal so we only have green. Are you going straight in or through some sort of preamp or mixer?

Great video, nice music clip you play beatuiful... what are you thougts of the speaker? I want adquire one of these, i prefer the dispersion of the l1compact, obiusly is not run with battery but no need any stand. If you have both can you tell me what speaker you prefer. PD Sorry My English is not to good.

Hi Salvador - thanks for the compliments. I do not have the L1 Compact so I cannot compare the two but I would think the L1 would be louder with better sound dispersion. If you don't need the small size, light weight portability and battery and can afford the more expensive L1C then I'd go with that. But if you need smaller, lighter and battery then the S1 is awesome. We just played an outdoor gig on a large patio and it was plenty of volume but we do play mellow acoustic. If we need more power we add a QSC k8.2 on a stand and use the S1 as a monitor.

Is it a 150 ft. or 150 yards at the farthest point in your yard? Not being sarcastic, just want to know for sound purposes. Thanks.

Scott Martin Thanks! That's very impressive. I'm interested in it for live acoustic performances in small to medium venues inside and out. It's kind of pricey, however the Bose sound seems to, so far, exceed the competition. My big issue with systems is weight. Want portability with excellent sound. Any thoughts on this?

The portability to weight ratio is very good. But it depends on the type of music you're playing and how much volume you need. Volume is limited unless you're pre-amped somehow. If you're playing mellow acoustic music like us then it works great. But if you need more volume to be heard over a crowd then it might not be enough. I'm planning to eventually add a QSC K8.2 powered speaker to my setup for when we need more. There's several great write-ups over at the Acoustic Guitar Forum in the Amplification section. Here's a direct link to some of those discussions (if it works): www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/search.php?searchid=7422325

I’m curious about the microphone you use. Also, how do like the Boss VE8?
@Methos19795001

We use two microphones, both relatively inexpensive ones. A Cobalt C05 and a TC Helicon MP-75 that was a proprietary mic that came with their TC Harmony GX-T system we no longer use. The Boss VE-8 was great back when we used it. The harmonies were hit or miss and I never used the looper function so we replaced it due to a lack of inputs (just two, one mic and one instrument). We just recently started using the EAE StompMix X6 digital mixer which is a great system.

I've been disappointed that my S1 doesn't put out much volume for my vocal mics (SM58 or my Sennheiser E85); any great tips, other than preamping?
@Methos19795001
5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, no. I always go through some sort of mixer as I need more than two inputs. I have gone straight into the S1 with a mic and while I do have to dial it up a bit more, around 75%, it's still pretty loud for our needs. But I'm afraid I don't know much about mics and their outputs although I have heard that higher end ones like the SM58 and E85 tend to have a lower output.
