Rebel Serbs and Croats, helped by renegade Muslims, are targeting the Bihac enclave in western Bosnia.
Forces loyal to Moslem rebel Fikret Abdic attacked the 5th corps of the Bosnian army today (Friday) in the village of Todorovo, 40 kilometres northwest of the town of Bihac.
The heavy fighting comes amid reports that the regular Croatian army was gaining ground and was close to completely cutting off rebel Serb holdings in Croatia and Bosnia.
The renegade Muslim troops fired their tanks, mortars and howitzers on government defensive positions as the ground shook with deafening explosions.
Abdic's troops, helped by the Bosnian and Croatian Serb soldiers, have been successfully regaining territory that the government's 5th corps took in its offensive about a year ago.
The aim of the fighting is to take control of the Bihac pocket before the exhausted 5th corps receive reinforcements from joint Croatian and government troops.
