The big heavy logs, i still have to split them with a diamond wedge. So i can pick them up and set it on the splitter

I didn't like my powersmart at 1st cause? the logs explodes sending piece a legal force. Now since i got it rigged up HANDS FREES. Foot operated, i like it. My body, head and hands are no where around it

I have a Harbor Freight 5 ton model. Does anyone know how it compares? Is the Boss worth the extra cost?

I took a big ponderosa pine tree and this splitter is splitting 30 inch rounds like a boss........Real fun getting the rounds on it though....:)

I don’t recall the exact amount but when I purchased mine about a year ago it was about $450. Doing a quick internet search this morning I found it from $500 to $600 new. Don’t know what you would be getting for $79, but doesn’t sound right.

Nice unit, oil the head of the unit as well, certainly helps to split any knotty wood.

The instructions do say to do that and I have done it a couple times. I probably don’t do it enough, thanks for the reminder.

I've only used my Boss for one day, but it was great. I'll be using it again today. I have the stand but haven't put it on yet. I'm thinking of just designing a table setup to use, which will enable me to stand the unit in a corner vertically for storage. Can't do that with the tall stand attached. Either way, it splits just the way I hoped it would.

I've got the same unit. Tough! I was going to elevate it with the stand that is sold but I couldn't lift those big 20 inchers high off the ground. Good vid, my friend

First it is an electric motor driven, not electronic and not an engine!. Second, you did not state the source of where you got it, but it looks like one of many of the Chinese electric-hydraulic units, sold by Harbor Freight. They advertize theirs as 6 ton, but who cares and it does work well. Have had mine for 7 years now and split many cords of firewood with it. It is a bit slow, but heck, I am 72 years old. It works well. Have mine mounted on a stand, and on the opposite side of where I stand, I have a table to catch the splits so I do not need to bend over to pick them up. Mine works well on green wood as well as dry wood. Mine is the two hand operation type and I just bought a small adjustable wood C clamp and clamped the button on, and just use the plug to turn it on and off. I do not like the automatic off switch yours has.

Yes, I agree, it is an electric motor, I misspoke. I purchased my splitter directly from BOSS Industrial, made in Naperville, IL. It has a manual shut off switch, not automatic, and I too was concerned that it wouldn’t hold up well. But after about a years worth of moderate use it has held up well.
