The Boss DD-500 is not complicated! It’s mapped out very simple, I got it because I like to create my own delays and very useful for recording. I like it a lot, it feels like you can have a blank canvas and create! Tell the pedal what you want! Instead of it giving you something fixed! For example, the DD-200 is a great pedal but you can’t change some stuff like chorus,speed!! You can edit the depth though. The DD-500 allows you to change speed and get vibrato sounds with the chorus :) my favourite thing about the 500 is the EQ stuff!!!! You can have up 16 delays going off at different times and pans! You can go crazy if you like! the 8bit stuff is interesting! For those who like to experiment and make some kind of nine inch nails/David Bowie type stuff :)

Do people actually have the time and energy to sort these pedals out? I'm conflicted - feel like I would rather just buy a meat and potatoes delay.

I have a vox delaylab, big and complicated like this one. It would be great for studio work. I think that you should really have 2 pedal boards. One with big pedals like this for fine tuning your songs during recording but the other pedal board with smaller, compact "meat and potato" versions.

I dont know man ...arent effects pedal more superior to processors cause they are only made for 1 type of sound and they do a better job at it than something trying to copy that sound?? this resembles a processor so how is this any better than a normal delay pedal ??

Well, jesus. Since its a digital delay, which have been using digital chips for a long time, this will actually pull off "digital delay" quite perfectly. It's not an analog delay.

These types of delays help with people who usually play at churches or really any live setting with big setlists. Presets and different types of delays for many different songs help a lot

I think if you’re an ambient guitar type, or a synth/keyboard type, where the FX are as much a part of the sound as the source.....then for sure, these big complex boxes are great for that. You can dial in your own delay preset, and off you go. But yeah....for the gigging guitar/band player.....doesn’t make a ton of sense unless in studio and just want all types of delays covered.

I find the TC Electronic Triple Delay is more my speed. This Boss delay is amazing, but it's got so much functionality and configuration capabilities that I would never use, or woefully under-use. From what I heard in this demo (and it was great), this is an amazing and perhaps potentially indispensable studio tool, a solid-if-not-a-little-too-complex effect box for live playing, and a bedroom guitarist's wet dream.
@Psyfonify
7 жыл бұрын
can the triple delay get 3 differently chorused delays, to create the Allan Holdsworth tone? i believe he would have 3 delays going at once, with the delays having a chorus on them and the chorus being set differently for each 3

7 жыл бұрын
I believe you could, using the TC Electronic TonePrint Editor software, then editing delay models that have modulation integrated (the 2290 Mod and Analog Mod being the most likely candidates). I'm happy with the stock sounds, so unfortunately I can't confirm if you actually can do this type of editing in TC's software.

Some of these pedals lately are just hilariously and unnecessarily complex. Does this thing comes with a free course in university? Who even has the time to figure this stuff out. There's probably a small niche for these things for purely studio players.

I Disagree. I play guitar, bass & keys and Love to spend hours creating The Perfect Patch (for a Synth). Thats the beauty of this. You have basic pedals, for those who want to: just plug in & play, and you have Intricate Pedals (DD-500) for those who want Deep Dive Sculpting of their sound. Example: if I was playing in a U2 Cover Band, I would Absolutely Need Everything the DD-500 offers. There is No Wrong Answer here. Just personal preference. Different strokes for different folks. Im Happy to have sooooo many Choices & Options. Update: Bought It. Love It.
@KingBlonde
6 жыл бұрын
Obviously you should learn your scales and be able to apply it to freeform playing before attempting to use one of these ( even though this isn't a solid rule) but there's definitely a use for delay pedals that don't hinder finding your own "voice" or whatever. I get it, if you're a blues player you just wanna crank through a tube amp on the neck pickup and you're done but for us who want to make spacey/shoegaze/alternative music then theres no other way. It's such a close-minded mindset to say "guitar pedals take away from playing" when that's only just barely true for a small minority. Just because it didn't work for you or doesn't interest you, doesn't make your opinion fact.

It has 12 presets and the usual control dials. I heard a demo of the Dual preset and I would buy a Dd20 or 200 just for that. But I may replace my Alter Ego with the DD500. This demo didn't do much for me at all, ignoring it.
