I bought one of these year's ago, when it 1st came out near enough I think. A brilliant piece of tech! Unfortunately got stolen whilst gigging about 6 years ago now, maybe longer. Don't know why it took me so long, but finally bought another one off Ebay just couple weeks ago, hod forgotten just how good it was! Loving it!!!

I used a GT8 into a stereo tube power amp for a few years. Upgraded to the GT10 years ago and eventually moved away from that rig. I'm using a Helix now but sometimes I wonder what I could get out of a GT8 now.

I love my GT-8, the sheer amount of possibilities would make a metalhead give jazz a try, just because you could get that sound at the drop of a hat, without messing around with parameters for 30+ minutes to get a desirable tone. It brings on an experimental curiosity in a player, it helped me improve my playing significantly.

The loop button is for the "FX-loop" and not for "loop station". With the FX-loop, you can insert an external FX-pedal into the FX-chain of the GT-8. For example: you can put a chorus pedal between the wah and the preamp of the GT-8. With the loop button, you can switch the loop on and off.

I dunno on the GT8 but on the GT3 you go over the pedal/assign section an it'll show your expression pedal state (on/off) if you turn your value wheel it should cycle to some basic presets like wah, foot volume and stuff or turn it back to "off" to disable it

If I have understood correctly you just need to run a cable from the Amp Control socket to your amp channel socket (not the INPUT socket!). Switch on the 'AMP CTL' option and assign it through the Control (CTL) pedal - doesnt always work, depends on the amp and the options it has. Hope that helps :)

well, I have GT-8 video of how to use it (by a guy called Tian Jay, you can buy it from the BoSS GT user forum) and it shows what seems to be just a normal cable, same as you uwould hook up for any guitar/amp/effect. Doesnt seem to demand anything more technical.

I tried one out in a music store for over an hour. it's the same as playing a keyboard. After a while, I dulled out. No need for an all in one effectsbox when guitarists really only use a maximum of five (a lot) in general. Although I'm still figuring myself which pedals to use, I'm looking for a classic rock solosound.

if you are looking to use the boss gt-8s preamp models then i would just stick to using the speakers because there are less tonal problems that could go wrong within the circuit. but if youre just looking to use your gt-8 as a stomp box to add to a guitar amp then try it out with a real amp.

But this is really great sounding. Boss and Tech 21 have great and reliable equipment!love both

The Gt8 is hard to set correctly ...but is the most flexible multieffect in the world...You must give more attention at the FX-chain...don't use too level in overdrive or gain stage preamp...and use the NS the the beginning of the chain...try to set- preamp-tonemodify-and euqalizer...if you have a lot of noise put the noise suppressor at the beginning of the chai..set the threesold to remove the noise e the release at low value

@reveries119 You would really be better off getting a gt-8. The gt8 has an effects loop which allows you to use the 4 cable method. This means that you can route effects either before or after the preamp in the effects loop of the amp. Its probably the best multi effects when using this method.

roland jazz chorus for the win, the cleanest amp ever but it is a pretty penny. on the cheaper end of it all you could go for a fender frontman if you would be using the pedal thru it cause it has a perfectly clean and sterile sound to it(but the overdrive sucks) so only get the fender if you have the multieffects pedal to throw on top of it.
