@@barnabu5 I think Billy got some of his chops from Richie Valens. Richie really was the first HARD ROCK guitarist and Billy Duffy kinda blended that early hard rock sound with the riffing mentality of Angus Young. The first time I heard The Cult it cut me off at the knees.

I love his playing......he does more with less. And I agree with him that for live.....it's damn hard to beat Boss. The are durable and they sound just fine. For someone who makes their living a session player, it's probably worth the going to the pricey boutique stuff.But that being said, Roland/Boss has knocked it out of the park with the Waza Craft line. These sound amazing. But for the life of me....why would they do a Waza tuner?

Big influence on me wanting to play the guitar. Burned up the electric album coming out of high school. At 68 years old, I’ve only recently become a fan of The Cult. I’m especially fond of the band’s “Sonic Temple” and “Electric” lineup. You’re among the rare guitarists who put a distinctive style together in short order. Your solid playing, and your gift for consistently coming up with great riffs are shining examples of knowing how to comp, especially for a powerhouse vocalist like Ian. Your work solidifies the concept of less-is-more. Keep rocking that White Falcon!

Good for BOSS on having this promo from Billy. I have The Cult on regular rotation in my vehicle to this day. I still have BOSS pedals from the 80’s - super reliable, heavy duty metal boxes, and as Mr. Duffy mentioned: they consistently sound good in live, loud venues.

One of my buddies who was not a Cult fan went to a show with me. At the end, he said «wtf, it's like the guitarist plays a solo from begining to end, he's always fiddling, doing little licks here and there, I've never heard anything like it». And that is Billy Duffy.

I've been playing now for 52 years, but I'll never forget the first time I saw She Sells Sanctuary with Billy playing that White Falcon. Wow! I wanted that guitar so bad, but at the time they were selling for @ 5 grand in the UK, so it was completely beyond me. Though I loved Page, Hendrix, and later found other awesome guitarists like Val, Satriani, Wilde, Dimebag etc. Billy, Charlie Burchill and The Edge have had the most influence on me as a player, as I love layers of texture in the stuff I write and play. Out of all of them, without doubt Billy is the coolest, and I love that he's still doing what he set out to do - make a living by playing guitar. Nice one fella! :)

Boss pedals are not what they used to be. I owned several Japanese ones in the 80s, my old DS1 eventually died and I bought a new one which sounded nothing like it. I talked to a Roland rep in London and he admitted that the chipset had changed.There was a Chinese company called Daphon that were making knock off Boss pedals a few years ago and they sounded better than the real thing because they had cloned the original Japanese models. The build quality wasn't so good though, they didn't last more than a couple of years of serious use.

He is running a boss BF3 flanger, 2 delays a DM2 set at 400 milliseconds and a DD3 at 800. his overdrive is a tube screamer and he uses a whirlwind bomb clean boost. his phaser in this is a phase 100 but i have seen him with a boss ph3.
@stupidlogic2987

Makes me laugh how people blindly repeat things on the internet without actually having a clue if they are true or not. Firstly, he has three delays, the DM-2 and and two DD-3s. The DM-2 has a max repeat time of 300ms, so how could it be set at 400ms?? lol It's set at about 240ms or thereabouts. The DD-3 has a max repeat time of 800ms and NEITHER are set at the max. One is at about 300ms and the other at about 500ms. His flanger of choice is the BF-2. He has two overdrives, the tube screamer, having used both TS-9 and TS808s (previously using an SD-1) and a Kalamazoo Lovepedal, originally the silver version, later getting a gold one.
