In his prime Nilan was one real powder keg, and this was the grand moment in his career. Or rather two, one being the sucker punch on Boutilier, and then the one last swipe at Linseman that had everything hit the fan afterwards. About as classic olde time hockey as it gets!

I was at that game. It was incredible to see. They had to remove teams from the ice. When they came back and dropped the puck they just started fighting again . There was actually blood on the ice. . My friend had tickets.

I was there also.. markwart landed 4 or 5 punches on lemieux.. they were right below us .. I saw it so clearly.. and lemieux after the game looked beat up

Chris! had a hard one growing up. He's not a bad guy. He has an awesome podcast now. it's really neat. As a bruins fan.... I can say that guy put his work in. you also have to give him and Montreal some props. they helped that guy get better. Much respect.

Not having it easy growing up doesnt excuse the guy from sucker punching Boutillier who was a kid back then and had probably never thrown a punch in his life. He's a POS ! And i dont know how you could give him or the Habs props if you're a real bruin's fan.

I always hated Nilan. This gamwe shows why. Throws a cheap shpot at a guy who's npot even looking. And then throws a punch at someone on the bench....and then then scurries away down the hall. Frickin' hated him....and then he retires with his name on the Cup twice.

That coach was called Taz when he played NHL hockey. Terry O'Reilly would have been in the thick of it just a few seasons earlier, he was a Bruin for life and had 2095 PIMs, and they weren't for tripping. Taz could have settled McPhee's hash damn quick. Getting your ass kicked by the other team's coach would be a really bad look lol

What are you talking about? Markwart fought a ton and was very good considering his size. He even took on some of the league heavyweights. I remember watching this and being a Montreal fan saying to myself be careful Claude! Lol! Both Boston and the Habs were loaded with tough guys during this period. Quebec was tough too. A great time to watch hockey!

@@patrickfennell1875 Yeah most fans remember Markwart from the end of his career I think, when his many injuries really piled up. Before that he was the Kamikaze Kid, remember? Nevin was game to go with almost anyone. I think his birthday was the other day actually.

No doubt the Boston announcers were going to be homers....Miller didn't really go after non fighters. Dave Maley was a known fighter, and had 71 NHL fights....not to mention a ton more in other leagues.

Actually Nilan's first punch on Boutilier was at 1:52 so the guy should have been ready for a fight as Nilan already punched him. Everyone dropped their sticks when the Habs bench cleared, all except for the two swedes, Naslund and Dahlin. lol

Chris was never scared of anything but letting his team down. He's a local kid, we went to the same high school. I've met Chris and chatted a while. He's a good guy as far as I'm concerned.
