I had Botox in my neck and jaw and where my ears meet my neck to treat a movement disorder that was the result of a TBI. I got 18 shots. My Neurologist gave them not a Dermatologist. After a year I gave up. I was never comfortable with getting poison in me. I didn’t get shots in my face or in any wrinkles. I didn’t have any wrinkles when I was seeing this Dr. lol Now 15 years later I get rude comments and I get glared at for the Seizures (the movements get worse and I’ll end up in a full blown Seizure. Where I can’t stop moving! I will stop breathing! I pass out then of course start breathing! It’s weird lol so I’m considering getting them again. Recently I had a bad one and I felt it coming! I was in Dollar Tree! I ran in the stockroom so no one could see me! My friend working there saw me on the camera and came running back! She called an ambulance bless her heart! She thought I was epileptic 😊 I am in severe pain after an episode and get extremely tired. So they took me to the ER where I slept the rest of the day! Oops! Botox helps prevent that kind of thing! The effects only last 3 months in average. If you have a special event planned it’s not a bad thing to see a Dermatologist like Dr Idriss! Tho it’s hard to smile lol

I also had a bad TBI and was offered Botox for head and neck pain. I was willing to try a few injections but the neurologist said I had to pay for a whole series which I couldn’t afford at the time. I no longer have the headaches but have often wondered what it would have been like to try to ease the chronic neck pain. I wish you well in your recovery.

I once heard Botox in the forehead can eventually cause the muscle to atrophy leading to more sagging around the eyes/eyebrows. Is there any truth to this?

Good question! I was going to ask the same!

From my experience, I’ve been using both for nearly 20 years now, I would say no. Actually the opposite. It’s like the longer I use it the less I need it and the longer the time span between treatments. If atrophy does happen, when does it happen?

I asked my surgeon that and he laughed. It's fake news spread in the internet by goofballs who have never had Botox and who want to discourage others from using it. Don't believe in baloney like that.

If injected incorrectly this could happen. The muscles can atrophy over time, meaning you'll actually just need less botox in the future in the desired areas. If the injector is placing it incorrectly, it could potentially atrophy the wrong muscles. This would be evident a few weeks after injection though. However, I can't see why someone would repeatedly get misplaced injections for years until the point of atrophy.

@MimiH1959 the reason you need less is because your muscles are atrophied. They lose strength and muscle tone with repeated use of botox and such long periods of time without use of those muscles. This isn't a bad thing as long as your injections are placed correctly to target the right muscles

I seem to be metabolizong btx really fast, two months and my wrinkles around my eyes are always back… I do not use sauna or get exposed to a lot of heat, changed the provider as well. Is there a way to prolong the effect? Is there a product that works particularly long? Thanks for your help and your content. I so appreciate it!❤

My biggest pet peeve is people who know nothing about cosmetic procedures and proceed to do two things... 1. Call cosmetic procedures "plastic surgery." Injections aren't surgery. And 2. See someone who clearly has filler and exclaim "omg! They have soo much BOTOX! Gross!"

Filler has nothing to do with muscles. It does not interact or affect them in any way.
