Hi,
Welcome to this new video. In this video I will show you my participation at the finals of the NJK; which was amazing!
The competition exists of 4 qualification days in different gyms and 1 national final where you have to qualify for. There are various categories which are based on age and gender. At the qualification events there are 6 boulders. For each boulder you have 5 tries. There is a limited amount of time, so it depends how many tries you can have on a boulder, as it is also based on how many people there are. You have to start at the 4 tapes, like in the video. Furthermore there is a yellow tape on a certain hold, which marks the zone. If you use that hold, you will get points for it. The less attempts you use to top a boulder, the more points you get.
After the qualifications, the best 6 climbers of those 4 qualifications will climb at the “daily final”. You are not allowed to see the boulders in advance, so you have to wait in isolation before it is your turn. In the final there are 3 boulders and you get 5 minutes per boulder, with 5 minutes rests in between. After the 4 qualification events, the best 10 climbers go to the national final. This works the same as the “daily final”, the only difference is that here are 4 boulders.
