Such a great video - thanks for sharing Vanessa 🙌 I wishes are allowed I would like to see a bit more BTS explanations like how/where/why you place the bounce light where you do; How you balance available daylight wit the strobe etc. Would also be extremely helpful to hear more about how you edit these images to a light and airy style (generel editing, not the single persons) - for example how you would do this in Lightroom (I know this is a promo for Evoto, so of course here it has to be Evoto) Thanks in advance ;-) Best from Susanne

So I bounce the flash on the largest white area that I could find that gave a flat even light. I set my white balance to 5600k which was fine for matching the daylight in the space. Didn’t do anything fancy editing. Just my joyfully simple preset basically (add vibrance, raise shadows. Etc).

At a reception I did a while back, I mounted a strobe on a pole to a base that had wheels. I rolled it around doing table shots with the light bounced off the white/low ceiling. I got beautiful shots and an added bonus: no reflections in anybody's eyeglasses.

Beautiful photos as always. What lens were you using in the bedroom? You seemed close to the family but didn’t have any distortion. I always find myself having issues in smaller rooms. Thank you.

I had the Canon RF16mm and RF28-70mm but I kept them mostly center frame and away from the edges with the wide lens so that helps

Love this ! I don’t believe my Flashpoint strobe has TTL. How can I accomplish this in manual/regular mode ? Just adjust power until I get the lighting I want for the space ?
@VanessaJoy
2 ай бұрын
Good question! Yes you definitely can, and you can either use a light meter or eye ball it. You’ll likely be towards the higher power side if you’re bouncing, depending on the power of your light of course

@@VanessaJoy thank you ! I have two 300w flashpoint strobes. I’m thinking of trying just one closer to full power in an office im taking photos of staff working for a website. I need to get a light meter so for now I will just eyeball it. It looks like you were aiming the strobe off the corner of the ceiling ?

Great images Vanessa. Quick question? The white balance is awesome on these….. what’s your procedure for obtaining the correct Color temperature on a shoot like this ? In camera or post ?
@VanessaJoy

A little bit of both. I used 5600k while shooting but then did some tweaks in post

If Evoto was something you could pay one time for and use like Photo Mechanic or Luminar it would be an even bigger hit.
@VanessaJoy
Жыл бұрын
I don’t think so because there’s ZERO COST to use it and then you just pay for what you export - and for many people that price point of free and pennies at a time is much more obtainable, especially since you’re not going to retouch thousands of photos, just the finals from sessions and weddings. I’d rather pay Pennies for the 30 or so I retouch in a given month than pay hundreds in advance for what I don’t need to. I’ll stick that money in a savings account vs give it away in this case.
