Composer of this tarantella was Holger Simon Paulli and not Lumbye.

Actually, both are right and both were not main composers of this ballet.. it had few composers in this order: Edvard Helsted, Gioacchino Rossini, Niels Wilhelm Gade, Holger Simon Paulli, and Hans Christian Lumbye.

Incorrect: Several composers contributed to the score: repetiteurs Edvard Helsted and Holger Simon Paulli composed Acts I and III; Niels W. Gade created the blue grotto atmosphere for Act II - including a popular melody of the time, "La Melancholie", composed by the violin virtuoso François Henri Prume. Bournonville asked H.C. Lumbye, later to become the famous Tivoli composer, to provide the music for the concluding galop that follows Paulli's tarantella. - Taken from Wiki

@alger3041 As it is, it's a perfect tempo for dancing a tarentella, which I believe is its essence.

My original comment is gone, but I will say, yes, it is a perfect tempo for dancing a tarantella, if the tempo remains consistent, for which I crave. I frankly hate those tempo distentions that take place intermittently, fracturing the continuity of the piece. I absolutely cannot understand why they can't perform it straight all the way through, as is the case with the Grand Tarantella of Gottschalk, for example. However, I do not mind the incremental speeding up as it approaches the end, nor do I mind the broadening at the very end. But I feel that it has to make musical sense as much as choreographic sense.

I believe this tarantella was Lumbye, too. He wrote Pulcinella's Tarantella Galop for Carnival Joys:Pictures from a Masquerade that sounds like this Napoli Tarantella. I don't know which preceded which.

Tarantella de Holger Simon Paulli. No es una canción, es música clásica, la mejor del mundo.
