C J Chenier live at the German Club, Pawtucket RI, February, 2006 performing his father's classic song - Bow Legged Woman Filmed and produced by Paul Hubbard
Sad that none of my friends know about this awesome genre of music. It's not something I listen to all the time, but everytime I come back to it, I'm pleased.

Cool. Neat thing: in the middle of the song, he does another song. He does the instrumental part of an old song called, "In the summertime," by Mungo Jerry. It come out in 1970 -- in the summertime.

Stupid me for passing this live performance that took place less than twenty miles from where I live. I didn't know about it . . . probably because I don't read The Providence Journal anymore, even though it's a better paper than the Boston Globe.

A previous poster asked what meaning & importance this has for the world. I might just as well ask what meaning & importance to the world HE has. IF he has to ask, it means nothing & will continue to mean nothing. To those who care about culture, heritage, language, music it's very important. We care about the sights, sounds, smells, traditions & tastes these people brought with them, incorporate & perpetuate. They teach us. Creoles, Cajuns (I DO get terminology mixed up) & others are part of the fabric that is America. We APPRECIATE their contribution. Could I have lived without my teeny, teeny, tiny bit of knowledge? Yes, but not as well; not NEARLY as well.
