I can see my old home, my bedroom window at 0:33 . I grew up in Prioress house overlooking the canal. I wonder if I or my parents or nanna were in there when this film was taken. Before modernisation we had a bath in the kitchen. A proper enamel bath but with a lid, so it became workspace! I remember my mum closing the lid on my dad to mash potatoes and he claimed to have had a sauna.

You’ve inspired me! Love these videos, despite being a Leicestershire lass. My dad moved down to London in 1970. We used to love roaming the streets and even today I remember my dad with a visit to London

Wasn't there an Iron Works at Bow Bridge? It was mentioned in William Woodruff's book Beyond Nab End.

My English paternal Grandfather grew up in Bow. His father, George Kemp, ran the King's Head Pub on the corner of British Street and Bow road: seen here in the far distance. St Clement's Hospital in the middle distance. I was in London in 1975 working as a nursing sister at St Mary's Hospital and had no knowledge of my ancestry given that my darling late father (b1919 in Melbourne, Australia, and d in 2010, Toowoomba, Queensland) had no knowledge at all of his father's heritage beyond what he was shown (photos and papers) as a young teenager by his father. All his English family records were either burnt by my grandfather or lost in the house moves they made. I've long since built up the genealogy to reveal quite a bit including having found the above photo and several others of Bow Road. I grew to suspect that my dear but 'distant' grandfather, who had a lovely English speaking voice, rued having left England in 1912, especially as his old friend who had emigrated also died young in Geelong, and letters 'from home' told of deaths of close family. My father had a warm regard for his Dad, although Dad was much more the 'family man' than his father ever was. Such sorrow just below surfaces! THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO BRIAN.

Hi Brian .many thanks for video, it has been a blessing during lockdown, I live on my own and have the computers and Amazon show to keep me connected with families, but your video at times has meant so much trying to figure out places that are now memories, we still keep smiling in tough times, and it makes it a lot easier to cope, many many thanks I can shed a little tear and feel happy afterwards.
