you don't 'miss him' b/c you didn't have any relationship w/ him that you don't still have w/ him now that he's dead. Every way you could connect to him, you can still do - you're equating yourself w/ people who actually knew him
@kahlyn4157

Helvete_Ingres that’s not true. he’s dead. of course you can miss someone you idolise without having a personal relationship with them. millions of people (including me) miss bowie. he touched so many peoples lives and was much ahead of his time. don’t be like that and ruin it. he was a great man and to tell a fan they can’t miss him? that was uncalled for.
@helvete_ingres4717
4 жыл бұрын
@yungk2xs no you don't understand. Every interaction you have with him - which is of course, interaction with art he made - you still have. *You* didn't lose anything from his death. The only thing you can't do is see him live which you probably never did anyway. When you say you 'miss' him, you're speaking in terms of this weird parasocial relationship you've made in your head that doesn't exist. That's actually what 'idolatry' is, which is the word you used.He never knew you existed, you had no personal relationship with him. 'ruin it' - ruin what, an illusion? You know, marketers have observed this tendency of 'fans' and created an industry that caters specifically to this parasocial relationship w/ fans - it's called kpop. They have manufactured stars that aren't ALLOWED have personal relationships in theor own lives lest it ruin the ILLUSION the fans have of having a personal relationship w/them. It's an ugly thing. I understand where Bowiewas coming from more than you do and I understand that much of his work was about loneliness and disconnection. It makes me cringe especially when I see his fans speak of him in pseudo-intimate terms - you never got that he was a remote figure. He styled himself as an alien from Mars. He wasn't your buddy.
@kahlyn4157
4 жыл бұрын
Helvete_Ingres are you okay in the head? if it offends you when fans miss such an important person in the world than that’s not normal. i totally get what you mean but he had a big impact on a lot of peoples lives and we’re allowed to wish he wasn’t dead.
@helvete_ingres4717
4 жыл бұрын
I am very okay in the head, I am not Why do you even follow Bowie if you're such an advocate for normality, when all he did was try to break molds? Doesn't sound like there was any impact on your life at all. You're a normie. Celebrity worship is the norm today so you defend it. I didn't say it offends me, I said it makes me cringe that people look on Bowie, or indeed any celebrity, like he was their buddy or soemthing. I have told you, it is impossible to 'miss' something you never had. You can 'wish he wasn't dead' all you want, your feelings are based on a false sense of relationship and are nothing to do with HIM. Bowie was a Buddhist btw. They don't 'wish' death away. You just prove you don't understand what he was about.

you don't 'miss him' b/c you didn't have any relationship w/ him that you don't still have w/ him now that he's dead. Every way you could connect to him, while he was alive you can still do - you're equating yourself w/ people who actually knew him

I had never seen David Bowie interviewed before. He is really personable!! Saw him in Tampa in 1986 for his "Glass Spider Tour" and loved it!

I bet someone told them they look like they can be brother and sister and eventually that's how he ended up on the show. He's an unexpected guest, but one of the best ever. This is a great interview! Thanks for uploading!

It,s a typical Britishism really not original David Bowie..Say that you feel like the cat,s whiskers and every Brit knows what you mean...Picture a cat,s face after licking in a bowl of delicious cream....

That is a pretty common phrase. I have been using and a lot of people have been using for like decades and decades. We say cats' meow or whiskers. Are you from the United States?

It's funny how Bowie himself decides what to answer to what was planned and when to make sense or not, and still be funny either way. That's way above popular, i'd call it ridiculous respect

I suspect there are some stars that interviewers dread, but I also suspect there are some that make the job a great pleasure. No prizes for guessing which category Mr Bowie belonged to. The man was awesome, gracious, articulate, funny and was the very definition of cool. Ellen's not bad either!!

Bowie does have the most androgynous features, almost other worldly. I've been a fan of his since the 70's. I always found him hot and I'm a heterosexual woman. His wife is absolutely gorgeous and so exotic looking. His son from his first marriage is more manly man looking and is a great upcoming film/movie director. He was the director for Source Code, originally named Zowie Bowie but is now known as Duncan Jones.
