Obviously, Boxcar Willie already knows his diagnosis at this time. He may not have had the fame of country stars like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash & Roy Clark. But make no mistake -- Boxcar Willie had a voice that was legendary country, was always an excellent performer, a great singer, a true traditionalist, and a wonderful man. His version of "Danny Boy," is stunning. I always considered him the missing link between Willie Nelson & Johnny Cash. I listen to all 3 seamlessly. Boxcar Willie was far better than many ever gave him credit for. Through his career, he should've performed, sang & recorded with many big-time country singers. But he seldom did (to my knowledge). He was great on stage with Charlie Daniels and Roy Acuff and the audience went crazy. Willie Nelson, at Farm Aid, was a little withdrawn on stage singing with Boxcar Willie. Intimidation? Nelson has wonderful character in his voice -- but in reality, Boxcar had the superior vocal. I never knew Boxcar Willie -- but, I miss him. Watching all these country artists sit around him as he sang "Railway to Heaven," was beautiful.

agree- an excellent performer, may he rest in Peace. Not many of the great ones left-Maybe Loretta Lyn, Charlie Pride and a few others.. They have all crossed the river we are all waiting for. In the last 30 years with the exception of George Strait and Emmy Lou Harris, Alan Jackson, Vine Gill and Garth Brooks, haven't been a whole lot of country entertainers that appeal to me.-I may have misewd mentioning 3 or 4 others.Greetings from Newfoundland, Canada
