Watching these young people testify reminds me of the Dylan Redwine case in Colorado. Dylan was murdered by his own dad & several of his friends had to testify in that case. Even though they were 13,14 or 15 when it happened, Dylan’s body wasn’t found for several years later. That was the case that got me hooked on watching court cases.

Don’t know if I agree. The judge seems patronizing. Why did she feel the need to tell him he can’t answer with uh huh and nodding. He’s very articulate but because he is Hispanic she assumed that he can’t answer in an appropriate manner. The same with the young ladies, asking did they graduate from high school, etc. I know that defense attorney was dangerously close to asking the young lady if she had intercourse with the defendant. None of the courts’ business. There are so many micro aggressions and passive aggressive statements from these racist attorneys and the judge. Makes me sick. And Axel is a nice young man who had two parents that drove the kids on their dates. The assumption that they had cars or traveled other ways was sickening. This is crazy.

UNLESS the defense counsel intended to raise a defense that the victim may have met with a drug dealer that night who "might be the real killer"(and had a plausible basis for raising that theory -- e.g., phone records of the victim linked to a drug dealer, an individual by name whose cell phone was tracked that night to anywhere near the victim's known vicinity(ies) at any time that dight of her disappearance/murder, etc.), it was terrible for the defense counsel to cross-examine the boyfriend about the victim's drug use. It was irrelevant to the murder, it needlessly "slung mud" at a teenage murder victim, and only served to hurt the victim's family ... it also didn't make the defense attorney appear especially professional, astute to what's really important in a case's evidence, or the least bit compassionate. NOT too smart: it made her look like a cold-hearted jerk and a hack lawyer merely going through the motions because she's not an especially talented trial lawyer.

Putting Axel on the stand gives the jury such a stark contrast between him and Bryant. It puts Susana's age into perspective seeing this very young man on the stand, an appropriate partner for her in age and maturity. To hear him talk about how his dad would pick her up and drive them to the movies or dinner and drop her back off or how they walked to each other's houses because neither of them could drive yet helps to bring Susana's innocence into focus. And then to look over at the defense table and see this grown ass man....the contrast is not lost me, and I'm sure it wasn't lost on the jury either. It just makes it even more glaringly obvious how truly disgusting and despicable Bryant is. Axel is a thoughtful, intelligent, respectful, kind, strong, well-spoken, caring young man and the way he carried himself on the stand was impressive. I hope the future holds bright things for him, he seems like a really good kid.

It is absolutely absurd that police departments are still making anyone trying to file a missing person report, but especially parents of a missing child, wait 24 or 48 hours!! WTF?! It's a well known, well documented, and well researched fact at this point that the first hours a person goes missing are critical for finding them and bringing them home alive. After 48 hours the chances are slim and they haven't even started looking for this child yet?? It must be infuriating as a parent to call the police for help in the most terrifying situation of your life and be met with complete incompetence and inaction.

It’s normal for teens to runaway, or perhaps fall asleep over a friend’s house or something. @ravpol1440

Yes the age for that is 13 and up if a person is gone missing they have to wait 48 hours before they can do anything to assure the person is actually missing because there are entirely too many teens running away and coming back home.
@QueenofMarine
16 күн бұрын
@@ravpol1440No, they don't have to. There's no law or rule on the books. It's completely up to their discretion. They listen to the details and decide whether or not they feel like it's important enough for them to do something about. Often they make families wait because they're making assumptions about what kind of person they think the missing person is. If they are someone who likes to do drugs, is a sex worker, comes from a poor family, is a minority etc they are going to make those families wait because they assume the missing person just took off, no matter how much the family tells them that something else is going on. In this case, even though Susana was a CHILD and a really good kid who was super close with her family, her friends, and her boyfriend, she's Mexican and was out late with her friends, so the police assumed she just took off with her friends and they CHOSE not to start looking for her for 48 hours. Even though the family was telling them it was very out of character for her to no be in touch, the police weren't listening. There was absolutely nothing saying they weren't allowed to start searching for her immediately. Once you start listening to a lot of true crime you start hearing this same thing happen to families of missing people over and over. It happens all thd time.
@QueenofMarine
16 күн бұрын
@@leannabedoreAbsolutely. It's completely up to their discretion. There's no rule or law saying they have to wait. They listen to the details being given and make a judgment about who they think the missing person is and what they think is going on. And unfortunately, it often means that no matter how many times the family tries to tell the police department that their loved one didn't leave willingly, their pleas are ignored. And then, as in this case, it's too late by the time they actually start looking. At this point it's a very well documented, well researched, fact that the first hours someone goes missing are critical for finding them and bringing them home alive. For cases where families are reporting missing children, police departments need to be taking all of them seriously immediately. It's worth the resources because no matter what, a parent can't find their minor child and that's a problem that needs intervention of some kind.

I am not saying what I’m about to say as an OBVIOUS emotion; I see the depression in Axel’s eyes. He doesn’t appear sad nor traumatic more like a FORCED detachment from his lover who he held in high regard.

This is sickening!!! Young love about to blossom and a horrible nasty, mindless soulless so and so intervened!

Axel is such a gentleman at his young age. How sad and to think how their relationship would have flourished if that beast had not taken her life 😢😢

Axel called at one in the morning. Something is terribly me Susana may have been abducted around 9-10:30 when Axel woke up in the middle of the night around midnight he KNOWS someone had happened to his girlfriend. He loved her so I am positive he felt her leaving her body around the above mentioned time. She was gone at one a.m

I don't mean to find it funny but when they asked him how many times he met her mom,he starts thinking like he's counting in his head and than he says 2.

@@BeatlesCentricUniverse good point, but I like to think Our Heavenly Father would not allow her soul to remain in turmoil.

I really dislike that some of the questioning seemed to be aimed at besmirching Susana's character - the defense came dangerously close to blaming the victim.

Did y’all catch the eye roll in the murderer’s direction? Axel gave a slight eye roll in the direction of the killer.
