It’s actually great that you made this. Some people have this belief that girls are the only ones allowed to cry and show heavy emotion. And that makes them weak in some peoples eyes. Yes, girls are genetically more emotional then men. But that doesn’t mean men aren’t allowed to cry. Holding it in and letting it out through anger is toxic. Being able to let it go is the most humble thing you can do for yourself. I’m probably over thinking this but that’s my opinion, thank you for coming to my TEDtalk!

This reminds me of a conversation I had with my (boy) best friend. I basically said how it was unfair that boys aren't allowed to cry, and how it was fair for girls to just let go of their emotions at any time. I told him that it's "toxic masculinity" (the people who teach boys not to cry, and the people who reinforce that practice). He told me no, the people who teach boys not to cry aren't toxic (like parents/siblings), their just trying to protect them from the world. We ended up on an agreement that yes it isn't fair, but their isn't much that we can do to stop it. The "practice/rule" was there since forever basically, and there's just no undoing the hurt its done. If your hurt in anyway by these unfair society "rules", please remember that you are of course not alone, and you can get through this.

It's okay to cry. No matter if you're a girl or a boy. Always remember that. In my brother's class, there is a boy that cries over everything. He cried over his bike not being stolen, because he wanted a new one. He even cried when the music was too loud. The boy I'm talking about was 9 then, I think. Now he's 10. I'm a girl by the way. Just saying cause many people in youtube thought I'm a boy because of my name. Anyway, have a great day!🤗
@exotic_aqua5765

I mean- yes girls are allowed to show emotion and boys aren't, and it's completely unfair and wrong but the parents and siblings are usually the ones to blame. See, I'm a girl and I haven't let anyone see me cry in about 4 years. Which considering my age is a lot (13) What I've seen is that boys who don't cry turn out to be complete jerks, it's the only way they can let their emotion show. So any boys reading this comment, I can cry and you can too. The world is an unfair place but don't let it get to you. What will the society say? TO HELL WITH WHAT SOCIETY SAYS

This. This is exactly what needs to be said. Toxic masculinity is terrible; trying to preserve a sense of “strength” that is represented by if you are a male or not is bloody stupid. Many boys grow up with this feeling of: “I can’t cry” or “I’m weak” because of typically conservative or old fashioned parents; this is burned into young kid’s brains at such a young age it’s frankly terrifying, and this very very toxic mindset is what shapes men who can’t express their emotions and have issues actually acting like a human and women who believe in the perfect ‘aLphA’ male.

We're all human, we all cry. Men and woman are different, but we all have the rights to show every emotion we desire. It's you, you're you. Don't be afraid to cry because it doesn't make you any weaker. Men shouldn't be called babies, woman shouldn't be called dramatic. Crying is healthy, and you need to cry. I feel for the boys who are told to "be a man!". Because they shouldn't have to grow up thinking they have to be strong. We're all strong. And crying will make you stronger. So if you need to cry, cry. No one will judge you.
