@@Oyi_14 I don't think you get it. I was around 12 or 13 at the time, so I was watching anything with hot anime girls, especially in skimpy outfits. I called them guilty pleasures because at the time, these shows were thought of as just for girls. I would've been a laughing stock if anyone found out. And no, I'm not adding Powerpuff girls to this list because they were 5, and therefore don't belong based around the aforementioned reasons. I shouldn't have to explain any of this as I thought "Guilty Pleasures" would've provided the entire context that I am now telling you. I also shouldn't have to explain why I included my age range during the time I watched.

Watched this show almost every time it was on tv when I was a teenager. I even taped a new episode on VHS so I wouldn’t miss it. It is funny how every guy had a crush on one of these characters from these girly shows lol. For Sailor Moon, Totally Spies, Kim Possible, and even the Carmen Sandiego reboot dudes will not hesitate to tell you who their favorite was and how it shaped their attraction to women. You know I'm genuinely proud I grew up in a time period where there was a push for diversity and kids to watch whatever as long as it wasn't obscene (as in gender norms came less into play)... before the widespread growth of social media. It was nice being surrounded with so many great TV shows with male leads, female leads, Asian American leads, African American leads, native American leads, freaking aliens, and so on. And a lot of the kids around me watching them too. I don't think they always did diversity right, but there was a great effort in trying. Most importantly it didn't feel like companies were just doing it for social media clout or that people were outraged both when there was and wasn't diversity.

The reason why it worked so well was because most writers were just being creative. Today the first thought is we need a character who is this or that and the creativity is inserted afterwards. People can sense when your goal is to sell an idea vs tell a story.

My older brother, my younger brother, and I growing up as kids LOVED shows with a female trio. Inevitably we each called dibs lmao. Big bro had Clover, my younger brother had Sam, and of course I had Alex. We imagined being adults and going to the mall or trips and vacations with our ladies who would be as close with one another as we were to ourselves. I remember those convos being so inspiring and hopeful, the optimism of naive youth. As adults we've drifted way more than we expected. Dating is harder than we thought it would be, as only our older brother is married (seemingly not as happily as he may have hoped to be) while me and the youngest brother are both single with basically no prospects. If only life were as simple as we thought it would be as kids. Thanks for making this video man this brought back some memories I hadn't looked back on in awhile.

I mean it was a definite parody of charlies angels. The missions were short but sweet. The characters helped pull the show. And there was always jokes so it was easy to get invested in. It had a Jimmy Neutron kind of appeal even before Neutron was aired, with all the tech gizmos. Men aren't against female lead characters, they just have to be well written which totally spies did with not 1, not 2, but 3 lead characters, technically 4. Didn't the three of them have kind of a school rival? Even she was a compelling character.
