Deal aside, it is sad to see Smart leave Boston. I don't think a lot of people realize how much he did not just on the court, but in the community. A good friend of mine works in Oncology at Boston Children's. Smart is the only NBA player that she knows by name because he used to be in there quite often to read books and hang out with the kids. According to her, he'd sometimes show up the morning after getting back from a road game. That says a lot about his character and the type of guy he is. This isn't something that he did for publicity or because he was promoting something, he spent the time and money with sick kids because he really believed it was the right thing to do. Respect to Marcus and all the best wishes.

Still can't see why they did this. If people thought they were soft last year then they're gonna be pushovers this year, especially on defense. If no defence is played anymore in the league then why out of the 5 games in the finals did both teams score over 100 only once with the rest of the games having the heat get held to under 100 and 90 in the last game. Defense wins championships and we just got rid of the best defender we had for someone who played 5 regular season games more and is injury prone like timelord and Al lol. To top it off Joe annoyed Grant by not playing him making it a high possibility he leaves/gets traded which is 2nd or 3rd best defender who wanted to bring intensity and defence.

Celtics fans see Marcus smart differently then the rest of the league. People know smart San never sniffed an all star game right? Yet he himself thought he was part of the "big 3" . Got two all NBA players and yet smarts taking final shots in games? Fans always remember smart diving on the floor but gloss over the fact that as a starting point guard with TWO all NBA players averaging over 20-25 points a game and smart can't average 5 assists a game? Derek white and Malcom brogdon outplayed smart the final month of the season and into the playoffs yet smart was still starting and finishing games, checking himself into playoff games and on and on. Smart thought he was more than he was. Tatum and brown were never going to take that leadership role aslong as Marcus smart was here. 9 years with the Celtics, Isiah Thomas, terry rozier, Kyrie Irving, kemba Walker, for 7 years smart wasn't good enough to be the starting point guard yet suddenly out of desperation he fell into that role. In a perfect world smart would take al horford with him. The Celtics were clearly a better team with rob Williams on the floor but horford MIGHT go 1 for 73 from three so he has to play obviously right mazzula?
