Good point by Godfrey that the Celts have been outstanding at developing players. Derek White, Hauser, Pritchard, and even Horford all became better players, especially at shooting, after they came here. In the case of White, a LOT better. Contrast this to the Lakers, who had Engram, Ball, Russo, who were all lackluster with the Lakers but became instantly better once they went to other teams. The Celtics know how to coach em up.

Anyone that’s got a problem with their age, is silly. Walsh and Davidson are what, 20,21 ? These guys we just drafted fill the gap. svi mykhailiuk probably leaves, he’s a UFA. We just picked up his replacement, and Sam’s in the coming years. JD and Walsh will come into their own. This is how you build a dynasty. This is how we avoid having to make trades for pieces. Draft smart and grow them as players and man.

These two draft picks will likely spend most of their time in Maine on two-way contracts. Jordan Walsh and JD Davison are ahead of them in the pecking order and Brad Stevens has mentioned in an interview his desire to keep Davison.

One of our best moves was Brad replacing Danny!
@rmsmith2396

Didn't Danny draft both J's?
@qt3dot14ish
3 ай бұрын
@@rmsmith2396 That's an out-of-context question. From Smart to Tatum, Danny was actively sabotaging Stevens in order to get him fired. Smart was drafted because he was undersized, the worst shooter in college basketball that season, had no athletic or dynamic capabilities and didn't like fans dropping the N-bomb on him as he was being drafted to the most racist sports city in America. His success was totally because of Stevens ability to manage all of that in a superior manner. Rozier, basically the same thing except he was even smaller and hadn't gone into the stands over the N-bomb. JB, again basically the same thing. An undersized freshman, athletic, but with zero actual skill set. By the time Tatum came around, Danny's "tanking time" was over and he had to pretend to try and build a real team. Danny didn't draft FOR Tatum. In order to sabotage Stevens even more, Danny traded studs IT and Crowder for Kancer Kyrie, and covered the fact that the Celts had no big man by acquiring Hayward. Since Danny had just acquired ball-hog Kancer Kyrie, who was supposed to destroy Stevens continuity, which he did, Danny couldn't draft Fultz, a point guard, with the number one pick, and pay the salary of the number one pick, just to have him sit on the bench behind Kyrie for three seasons, so he traded down to alleviate the salary burden. In the process he also pick up an additional future number one pick, which wouldn't help Stevens at all. Tatum just happened to be standing there so Danny again drafted an undersized, nobody, freshman. Tatum was never supposed to get off the bench as in front of him on the team, with redundant skill sets and much more contract status were: Kyrie Hayward Horford Morris Brown You guys simply don't understand the context of what was happening between Ainge and Stevens (Ainge was trying desperately to get Stevens fired because Stevens ABSOLUTELY RUINED DANNY'S THREE SEASON TANK PLAN, and you all believe that the way things come to fruition was the way they were planned. But that is VERY RARELY THE CASE.) So "yes", Danny did draft them, but they were all drafted because they were all undersized and were either non-dynamic or had shown limited dynamics in a small sample size, in order to facilitate Stevens demise. I documented all this on the Disqus forum years ago, and nothing has changed. Proof? Just watch how Stevens performs vs how Danny performs. Danny took over the Utah GM position three seasons ago, traded Gobert and Mitchell for a gazilion draft picks, relieved the team of their massive salaries so he had room to financially maneuver, and again accidentally got some quality players in return, and yet the Jazz are YEARS away from being competitive, and Stevens took the smallest NBA team in history, stocked with players who were severely undersized, overpaid, aged-out, injured, or on rookie contracts which makes them useless in the playoffs, and completely revamped the team into a dynamic offensive and defensive team, still undersized, but not SEVERELY undersized, and although they are significantly over the cap, the net draft assets that went out to build this now championship team, was a total of minus one draft pick. If you've seen the "green dot" chart of how good Caitlin Clark was in college, just replace "Clark" with "Stevens" in the green dot, and that's how good Stevens has been as a GM, and Danny's team, with all the draft picks, financial maneuverability, and quality players, are still a bottom-tier lottery team. And I say this with confidence: Tatum most certainly would have had a great career (maybe not this good though) no matter where he was drafted (although nothing is a sure thing), but Smart, Rozier, and Brown owe a large part of their success to having started their carreers inside the Brad Stevens System. As a coach, and even in though he had a short pro career, Stevens had, by far, the most "average" players come into his system on the front end, and then have seasons so good that they moved to another team and got "legacy" money in their next contract, and no other coach is even close, even "legendary" coaches or coaches who coached for twenty years or more. Danny was trying to give Stevens really crappy players, but they all responded in an amazing fashion under Stevens. That credit goes to Stevens and the individual players who maximized their opportunity under Stevens, not to Danny.
@rmsmith2396

I mean can anything be considered a steal if 54 teams passed on them? Not saying it's not a good pic but using the term like steel usually would mean you're getting someone that's above their perceived value. This guy's ranked 75th overall so not really a steal. Maybe a compelling pic but not something that they're actually getting value above what the perception is,

so this is the tillman insurance? small ball big (big wing size) that shoots well from 3? i guess that's good for mazzula ball. not impressed with the rebounding or rim protection. hopefully he's good enough to be that switching big that tillman played. i did like that brad didnt draft a guard. not as impressed with this pick as Baylor. i hoped brad would trade up to pick up flip, klintman or smith (all went before pick 38). I gave brad a B for baylor. I give him a C for watson. so I guess overall grade would be C+. will see if my assessment of him changes in summer league. i have a feeling i'll be upgrading the grade of Baylor.

We have too many guards and hes not a 3 and D guy as hes not yet a great shooter from 3. His stats in USC were absolutely terrible. You cant draft someone just because his last name is James. Baylor schiermann rightnow, is a better player then james and so isnt Anton johnson. These were the perfect pics to fit our system. Bronny is only 6"1. He still needs 2 or 3 years to develop. If you know basketball in it self as a business, you know klutch sports told every team don't draft bronny or he will not report.
