Love the interview! It’s wonderful to see someone who knows him well doing an interview. I love watching RDA in panels and interviews, but lots of times he was so humble and wouldn’t go into details and take credits on something he did. He would never admit how brilliant he is. We have to hear it from someone who really knows him.

I would have felt so happy to hear either of my parents state how proud they were of me as Rick is of Wylie, I hope it means alot to her...precious words!

Richard looks so good! His health was struggling for a while there, you could see it in SGU. He could totally come back as Four-Star General Chief of Space Operations.

The two actors I really lived were Robert Urich who I helped interview, had dinner with he and his family. He like Rick was very genuine!

Thank you for sharing this video. I had not seen this one. I'm confused about the companion membership I have. Do I go to the youtube channel or a website. I receive emails and is that how I follow?

Hello! Companion members get access to exclusive livestreams (like this interview originally was last year) and discounts to our Green Room sessions to meet actors in zoom calls. The next one coming up is with Amanda Tapping in January (though it's almost sold out). Consider www.thecompanion.app/ as your home hub for all things Companion, and of course feel free to get in touch any time! You also might consider joining our Discord server and engage with our amazing community: discord.gg/P9vqpevv72

MacGyver was the start of my crushes on intelligent men. That show made high intelligence sexy and years later I would find myself attracted to my husbands brain before anything else. 🤣

I was a little kid when MacGyver was on (I'm talking around 5 or so) and I was obsessed. Too young to ever have a crush, but I admired the character greatly. Now that I think it over, majority of major celebrity and real life crushes (aside from one) I've had have also been men of higher intelligence and it continues to this day. I guess Macgyver (and my parents) ended up cementing that in me at a very formative age.

I admired all of Stagate productions except Universe. It was as if no wrong path was left out of consideration to go down. Trying to emulate the darkness of BSG when people wanted a light at the end of the tunnel and perhaps some episodes with heroes and happy endings. Something new and completely different doesn't always work. It really felt to the fans that Brad talked about Universe was the greatest thing he ever produced and that everything that came before was something to be scrapped off ones shoes. Atlantis should have gone on for at least two more years. There should have been more SG-1 movies and Universe should have been more thought out and less impulsive it would have been far more acceptable as part of the Stargate pantheon.

I grew to appreciate SGU a little more after a second or third rewatch, but I think you’re mostly right. We also don't know exactly what kind of network interference there may have been as well which caused a significant change in tone. I’ve always loved sci-fi of all stripes, and I loved BSG for what it was and the type of story it was trying to tell. But I particularly loved SG1 and SGA for the same reason I loved Babylon 5 and Star Trek, from TOS to Enterprise, and that was because they were optimistic. They were fun. All three franchises mixed drama and high stakes with humor and human stories. Despite the fictional setting and fantastic technology, they still felt grounded. The characters were (largely) people to aspire to and the stories nourished the imagination and encouraged curiosity-something I find lacking in far too many people today. And the actors left such an indelible mark, that even if someone were to try and reboot any of them, it wouldn’t work. Those actors so completely inhabited the role, nobody else could come close.
