Having known Bernstein for a bit in my professional life, Cooper nailed the mannerisms and vocal cadence. The conducting, while a decent effort, was just too distracting IMO. But “A” for effort. Conducting is hard!

Dang Bradley. Great acting. And the wife actress was AMAZING!! I bet u anything because the wife suffered seeing her husband being shared gave her cancer. I really do. All that depression of not being able to have him for herself made her body against her. Sad that she had to suffer that while her husband enjoying himself. Crazy!!

What bothered me the most about his performance was the voice he did when Bernstein got older. The real Leonard sounded nothing like the mumbling crap Cooper made himself sound.

His energy has found its way to me??? My goodness the arrogance. The delusion. I am the anointed one. I carry his mantle and his memory!!!! Look, I admire Bernstein. I even managed to get through the movie, but Bradley is just being so holier than thou. It's rather nauseating. I think his emotional avoidance about talking about him is actually a device to avoid having a serious conversation about him.

How poetic that such a talented and all around brilliant actor/director would play one of the century’s greatest musicians, who had the same sort of all encompassing talent. This movie is a gift to the world and especially to us musicians. I didn’t “meet” Lenny personally, but I lived near him when I studied at Juilliard. I once had to wait to cross the sidewalk when Lenny pulled out of the Dakota building with a young attractive man in his convertible. Felicia was gone by then. I won’t ever forget this chance encounter. You could never mistake who it was. Thank you, Bradley. If you don’t win many Oscars for this achievement, there’s simply no excuse. You deserve it.

People disappeared, we woke up with no recollection of what had happened during the night...and there was a tiger... Crazy stuff. But I think of Bradley (well, he is Brad to me)...and I feel he was there with me, even though we have never met... There was a bond...and if you ask if I miss him? Yes...yes, I do... 🥹 I'm sorry...I can't talk about it...😥😥😥

I couldnt get through the film, which was strange because the music was beautiful obviously and it was filmed very beautifully. BUT. The dialogue felt so forced and unrealistic. Too "smart" for its own good and so I felt very disconnected. Maybe I'll try watching it again only because of Carey Mulligan who's just amazing.

I’ve never known such reverence and hype over an utterly unremarkable film. Bad BBC camera shot choices, unintelligible dialogue where everybody speaks over each other, zero narrative pace, no story other than he’s gay snd she dies, no capture of the dynamism of Bernstein’s music, bad aging make-up, ridiculous accents. Looks like an actual parody of an 80s Oscar fodder movie. Crying because he thinks he knows him? Give me a break.
