Lou Raderman, concertmaster of the MGM orchestra who played on the original recordings, used to mockingly complain that "...Scott writes some of the most fucking difficult music in Hollywood. He's trying to break my fingers!" Bradley's music is a brilliant synthesis of Stravinsky, Bartók, Hindemith and Schoenberg along with the American popular song form, from Stephen Foster to Gershwin. A most underrated composer, IMHO.

A general rule of thumb in music for woodwind and string players is that the faster your fingers (whilst maintaining accuracy) the harder a piece will be. Now there are pieces out their that are very slow and very difficult but in the scheme of things the faster the tempo (speed) and the more notes in a short period of time the more difficult it is. - I hope this helped :D
