Why don't we just address the elephant in the room...and that's the tenure of LeBron James as a Laker...

How many 1st round picks were traded to get a player he wanted? How many coaches were speculated they were fired because of LeBron James? How many excuses has he used to deflect any accountability for not winning in the playoffs? I'm waiting for a counterpoint...any please...

Better look it this way. Any coach can take them Celts in the finals cus everybody is defending hard to their capabilities and no matter what great coach you put in LA, they'll be playin forever or even miss it as long as lebronze's lazy azz it there

it's no surprise about it. Whether we like it or not, Lebron is a part of Dan Hurley's decision. Imagine, a superstar in a team, who made a decision to get his son from the draft pick. Never mind if his son is truly a gem! Now, probably the front management is now considering if they continue to renew his contract, which also not surprising. Release a superstar who no longer thinks about your team's success but to think about making an NBA history... that is, first time in NBA history "father and son" duo.

The Lakers job is not a coaching job until Lebron leaves.
@atlien1988

College coaches rarely work out in the NBA anyway. Only one coach that I can think of (at least in my lifetime) has ever won a championship and that was Larry Brown against my Lakers in 2004. The fact that we had a college coach and Redick as top coaching candidates is proof that no one wants this job. LeBron is going to get all the credit if the team succeeds, and the coach will get ALL the blame when the team fails. That has literally been the MO in every single stop for LeBron without fail.

Hurley was never taking the Lakers job he used this to get more money from UConn and plus why do you want to coach an aging superstar and his son and injury prone AD with no draft picks. JJ is getting the job because LeBron wants JJ this was a song and dance to show that the Lakers were really looking for a coach.

Real talk.... Lebron James shows his anger when things doesn't go his way... bcoz he's so popular, he thinks he's entitled to shout to his coach, players and even referees. Leave the court even the game is still going bcoz it's already a losing game. Dictating that his son be picked up from the draft So feeling entitled. These are some of things probably Dan Hurley doesn't want to happen. Good decision for Dan Hurley, i think.
