Das ist eine wunderschöne Version der Zigeunerlieder mit einem ganz feinen Chor und einer virtuosen Pianistin. Ich bin begeistert und gerührt zugleich.

Performed in 1977 director was Joseph huszti. It was wonderful to sing and I still can remember most of it. It had a terrific alto part.

I just played this for a solo tenor. I didn't knew there's a choral version of this and it really surprised me because the text are sometimes so personal that I didn't imagined that Brahms himself would intend it for a choir.

I think he composed it for 4 soloists, as h e did his vocal quartets and Liebeslieder Waltzes. It’s very hard to blend four solo voices. Lotte Lehmann performed them as solo soprano. Brahms himself often rescored his most popular works-the one he made money on. There are three versions of his waltzes for piano.

Sang these in college choir-loved them! But some are so fast here, it makes andante, vivace, etc. meaningless. No soul in these, imho.

Music theory class: Moving two parts in contrary motion from an octave apart to a unison counts as parallel octaves. Augmented intervals such as augmented 4ths are bad voice leading. Never double the leading tone. Brahms at 12:20 - Hold my beer.
