It’s truly possible to feel what others are feeling. Whilst it's not telepathy, research in social neuroscience and emotional intelligence provides insight for that. When we experience intense moments, whether happy or sad, our emotional brain response and brain waves synchronize, reflecting a deep psychological connection.
Using advanced brain scanning technology (fMRI) scientists found that when we experience certain emotions, they light up the same areas in our brains. It's like we're all tuning into the same emotional wavelength unconsciously.
This shared brain activity shows how similar we are in processing emotions, promoting emotional resonance and social bonding. This allows us to be more empathetic because it provides an insight into what others think and feel. And perhaps might even go a step further and give us a glimpse into their next move.
