If she did jump to try escaping, whatever she was running from must’ve been very severe to risk jumping a freeway bridge! Or someone drugged her at the club and she had a bad reaction? Something isn’t right with him checking on her then fleeing after the accident!! I was hit head on in my teens & the boy who hit me did not check on me or my bf, he just ran. I later learned it was bc his father was an ADA and his family had connections to local police; he figured calling his mommy as he fled would keep him from trouble…The things people do; smh! I feel for her family.

With all those bottles served to them an inexperienced drinker easily could have found themselves in such a state to easily be taken advantage of, no drugging would have been needed. After the bouncers were in a physical altercation with this guy in order to at least cover their ass they then should have called the police. Should made him sit still right outside the club till police arrived to sort out the situation. Had they done this nobody would have been driving drunk and I think maybe things would have not ended up the way did.

Yes John, please, keep us updated on this case. Apart from the humane side of the story and the tragic loss of an 18 year-old woman, this case presents so many issues that need addressing: the lawsuit to the club, for instance. These places profit financially from young people drinking, it seems only fair that they must take some degree of responsibility for what happens because of their serving. I liked your idea of an automated tab keeping 👍. I don't understand the dynamics of this car accident. Maybe I missed something, but the word "ejected" really confused me. Ejected from where? The passenger seat? The windshield? The pieces of the puzzle are not all there and Jesslyn's family at least must be given the full picture! Having said all that, what a sad, unfair, tragic loss! 💔

Having watched the whole video now, my thoughts lean towards Jesslyn struggling after a level of alcohol that she was unaccustomed too, maybe something else was contributing aswell, but only the toxicology report would show that. I think as the date had become aggressive she wanted to get out of the car. Either something along the lines of ' fine you want out, get out' occured. Either that or Jesslyn got out of the car and an angry young man decided to take his revenge at being rejected. Maybe to avoid his hitting the barrier she tried to get away over the barrier and fell. I think if 'dont do it' was heard, it may have been the friend trying to stop the date doing what he was doing. Maybe we don't know his name as he has been cooperating and they are protecting him? Either way it is so sad that this young girl couldn't just go for a nice night out, like so many teenagers and get home safely. Its not the place to get into it, but I often think that such a high drinking age, probably leads to more issues as it's hidden and worked around instead of being out and open.

It was stated that he was combative to say the least. Could it be she exited the vehicle and that angered him and he was trying to strike her intentionally? It would also explain the multiple hits on the rail. It would also explain why an eye witness heard something to the effect ,in a male voice, "no don't do it". Given the fact that Orozco is thumbing his nose at the court system by not appearing to have his ankle bracelet installed, is likely indicative of his personality. My suspicion is much like John's, that he waited until he felt sufficient time passed, so a DUI charge was unlikely. Being the survivor of a head on MVA that involved fatalities, (The driver of the vehicle that struck us was impaired, killed himself and his two passengers) it is surprising what can occur during a collision, as far as vehicle locations, possible ejection of passengers etc. that seem to defy logic. I truly hope the family find the answers and receive the justice Jesslyn deserves.🕊

I'm guessing if the driver was intoxicated, they knew they would get in trouble if found driving under the influence, and weren't thinking straight? I heard somewhere that in some places, fleeing the scene of an accident (if no injuries are involved) is actually less serious a crime than DUI, and thus people would abandon their cars after accidents, then come back later once sobered up to deal with it. Perhaps they were thinking along those lines?

I understand the argument that 18yo shouldn't be able to drink legally. Even though they can in other parts in the world. But law is law. On the other hand - making club to restric drinking is a bit too much for me. I mean, people should learn to put their own limits. If they can't, limit at the club won't help them. They will drink in next club - blank slate. Don't babyproof whole world - it won't help! What happen is tragic. Noone should die like this. The fact nobody helped is horrible. its not uncommon to tear up suspension parts and tires when you hit barriers like that, so you have an initial impact and the reverse momentum from the crash pushes you away from the barrier only for the vehicle to be directed back into the barrier.

The multiple hits on the rail sound to me like she exited the car to escape the driver, and then he tried to pin her against the rail or frighten her by making her believe he would pin her there. She could have fallen trying to avoid being hit, or even pushed over the rail by the car or a human push maybe out the window while driving beside her as she tried to escape. On a different note, the only other way I can see for there to be multiple hits on the rail, is if the car spun out and hit the rail multiple hits while spinning. This could be caused by loss if control due to high speed, or possibly by being impacted by another vehicle, but both vehicles would show significant damage.

The way clubs control the "of age" alcohol patrons mixed with underage patrons is to serve the alcohol in one area which has a "velvet rope barrier" and an employee checking for drinking wrist bands. The wristband shows you are old enough to drink. No alcohol can be drank beyond the designated area, therefore underage can't get in and of age can't take alcohol out.

I am really sorry for Jesslyn's family, what a senseless waste of a young life. A toxicology report is obviously needed on them both. The age limit is 18 in Europe meaning you can legally drink from aged 18 in every European country and 16 in some cases if you are eating you can also drink cider. I always forget that in America it is 21, is it the same for every state? I think if you are old enough to vote, old enough to marry at 18 then you should be old enough to drink. If thier accident occurred as a Rear End Collison, either from the right lane through the on ramp, or from the on ramp to the shoulder, the car could potentially spin from the impact. Then, if the Driver or Passsnger tried to get control of the vehicle they could be hit again by oncoming traffic. That could explain why the vehicle hit the guard rail multiple times. They could have sustained more bumps as the car came to a stop, since the drivers around them would be thrown off by the unexpected traffic pattern. My questions would be: 1. How fast was their car going when they were hit? (Intoxicated/inebriated driver's have slower reaction times. So the accident could have only been seconds long.) 2. Was Jazzeyln sitting in the passenger seat or was she trying to open the car door to get out during the second impact? And was she wearing her seat belt? (If she were in the passenger seat, both the seatbelt and the airbags would have prevented her from being ejected. But, if the car came to a temporary halt, before the Driver tried to regain control and reneter the lane, than she could have been ejected when the car was hit again. In that case, the ejection could make sense. But, in that event her body would sustain severe I jury before the guardrail or road stopped her impact.) 3. The Club: in my experience working at bars and restaraunts: IF there are a lot of people present, and there is less staff (which could be possible due to CV19), it becomes more difficult to track the underage patrons. Many bars have tried paper bracelets, sharpie Xs on both hands, or several randomized ID checks to make sure those under 21 don't drink. This is before technology ramped up, both for scanning IDs and for faking them. I think the safest course of action is to petition for mandatory under 21 hours in the early evening. Then after a certain time turn away those under 21 so it's not a liability. Also, incorporating a program into POS stations that prevents sale to underage patrons. If someone is caught buying drinks for them anyways, as that is illegal, have 0 tolerance and call the police. It would help to to call the police when fake IDs are found. As far as the club rules: everyone is on their own to drink responsibly. This club would be no different than any other as far as serving those of age. Unless someone is clearly blindly drunk or causing problems, patrons are not generally cut off, as there is no way of knowing if that person is planning on driving. That is not the responsibility of the establishment. However, it IS the responsibility of the establishment to have very clear safety guidelines in place and to ensure that those are being followed. Having 18 and up mixed ages at a club poses a big risk. From what I've heard, the patrons are given brightly colored wrist bands or different colored cups to distinguish under age from those 21 and over. However, it sure does seem like it could be easy to drink alcohol if under age. To me, it would never be worth the risk to own a club like that. When I was young, the 18 and under club closed at 8:00pm, and then it was cleared out for the 21 and over crowd. Why even have establishments like this?? My heart goes out to Jesslyn and her grieving family. What a complete nightmare. 💔😥💔 Their attorney sure sounds very competent. Hopefully he can at least bring justice to those responsible. Unfortunately, that won't bring her back. 💔💔💔

Not everyone runs a tab and many establishments don't have tabs except for credit cards. Also, 18 is an adult, they don't need to be "protected", they should be capable of being law abiding. It's time to return to sanity and treat adults as adults. Unless the police find enough evidence to add charges to the failure to render aid, this will be it.

I agree...thank you. At 18, one I-S an adult, capable of legally getting married, joining the army and dying for our country, being sued, and in most states, having an alcoholic drink. Yes, sadly, past 3:00 in the morning, things tend to get out of hand and bad things can happen. It seemed like the family were reaching to blame anybody and everybody, even the bar where the group drank at. And yes, except for people who run tabs (basically just get their drinks charged) on their credit card...there a-r-e no "tabs" otherwise; you pay in cash every time you order. The bar is not there to babysit anybody. Sadly, bad things can happen at 3:00 in the morning, and you don't even have to be drunk for that. Sadly, it is what it is. God bless everyone; such a sad outcome. Poor young lady.

Super sad story. A photograph of the bridge you showed in the very beginning has a Post-It height of 14 ft and I don't remember the inches. It's safe to say that the leap would be 17 ft. I'm really surprised there are no surveillance cameras from the Department of Transportation anywhere around there or any businesses. I'm 43 years old, but when I was 18, I used to go to 18 plus night and they served alcohol. Maybe the male was under the influence and threw some liquor he had inside the vehicle somewhere when he ran from the vehicle. That could be one reason he ran away from it. And perhaps if jessalyn was intoxicated with something, maybe they spiked her beverage. Mere speculation

Dis you consider h the guy she was on the date with wanted more that night and she didn’t? You said you can’t think of any other reason he would have fled the scene unless he was intoxicated. How about he realized she was dead and didn’t wanna be associated with it? Or it seems like you’re under the impression he’s an upstanding young man and only intoxication would make him do something that cruel. Maybe he’s just a bad dude. And maybe she tried to jump from the truck because he wasn’t taking no for an answer and wouldn’t take her home.

About the truck hitting the barrier multiple times: while its quite possible DUI was involved, it's possible the truck could have spun and hit the barrier multiple times that way? I was in an accident on the highway where our van and a pickup ended up colliding twice because rear end of the pickup (relatively little mass) spun around and hit our van a second time before we all came to rest. (Everyone was fine, thankfully!)

Such a shame. Poor girl...died at only 18 yrs. old. Funny how the video started out saying LE said she "jumped"; and about mid-way in the video and on, she's instead ejected from the truck bc the truck she was in was hit by another truck in an accident. Towards the end of the video, they are blaming the bar bc they served everybody in her party too much alcohol, even tho the driver of the truck came forward to LE and wasn't even given a Breathalyzer test. Guess I'm frustrated as just an observer, and I'm sure the family, whom this happened to, is even m-o-r-e frustrated; and hasn't got a clue what really happened. I hope they find out; if that was my daughter, I wouldn't rest either. But it sounds like a kind of "group party" that got out of hand. I don't know any 18 yo. girl who is out past 3:00 in the morning with a family waiting for her at home (she wasn't away at college nor was she in an apt with a girlfriend, away from her family)...most are home by midnight or 1:00 am at the latest. Not her fault in the least, of course, bc things were out of her control it sounds like at the end, but there's a reason for that curfew time. God bless everyone, and I hope they find the answers soon and have some closure for their wonderful daughter.

I was just saying to my husband as we watched that she most likely was trying to get away from these guys and grabbed the wheel. But did she go through the windshield? That's what I'm taking as ejected which means she wasn't wearing a seatbelt but they were apparently? Also this club was responsible for calling authorities instead of punching this guy in the face! How big were these bottles as well bc I have NEVER heard of that before. She said they were meeting up with her friends, where were they? I think authorities aren't revealing anything to keep the integrity of the case and for future charges that could be filed. When her toxicology comes back I think things may be a bit more clearer, but if this guy who just left her there was tested for how much alcohol was still in his system it could've proved maybe how much he'd had to drink! The club is very responsible for her death bc they let this guy get behind the wheel of a vehicle knowing he was intoxicated and never called the police? It was to save their own asses but I'm guessing that club is at this point closed or soon will be. I am curious of who the 3rd guy was in the truck and how some of these events authorities say took place unless there's video!

It's hard to keep underages protected. I don't believe that business is safe at all. I think after a certain time the underages shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the alcohol is or anywho that is being served. I know in some states have different laws are put in place. I do believe the club deserved to be sued and i do believe if the man violated his bail conditions he does deserve to be rescented as far as the violations go

I think the tab system sounds awesome. I am a server and we are all responsible to take a safe serve Alcohol class. You pay for it and are to renew every2yrs. There are signs and warnings to look for. It sounds like intoxication plays a part but i do think alot more is involved with this. Violence maybe this man has some kind of history. It doesn't make sense or add up. I'm sure he has some kind of record they can look into. Doesn't sound like it's the first time this man has been in trouble. As far as other vehicles being involved I'm sure street/ traffic cams were in the area. Accidents happen if it was something as far as another car hitting them why did he run.. I can see through the comments the family wants answer and they do deserve that.

It is the opposite of adult and there is a clear designation. 18 is adult, not a minor. I doubt any state will misuse a legal term like that because they won't be able to charge anyone 18 to 20.
