I hope they've improved the suspension from the earlier 800 models. Those LNER ones are really shaky compared to the old 125s.

Yeah I've asked the same question on another video of a 810 from this same channel - I wonder too why!

The diesels probably need a bit of break-in time and they can test both powertrains at once. That's just me guessing.

is it me or is every high speed train in the uk just the 8** like you got the GWR LNER Lumo and a lot more. Please say we aren't going to be heading towards a time where all the trains are the same in the UK

@@Chilternfanrailvideos That's he thing with the golden age of steam LMS would have their 6Ps and LNER would have their A4s and GWR had their Castles and Kings. They had recognisable looks and that's what made them all so unique

I mean we already had that time when the Intercity 125s were at their peak pre-privatisation. It seems like we are heading back that way, and it's not particularly surprising. They are one of the very few bi-mode sets available, and since the DfT/NR apparently can't be trusted to keep any promises at all when it comes to infrastructure upgrades, they are the best bet for most TOCs because it allows them to run the new trains on their existing lines now, while still taking advantage of electrification and line speed upgrades whenever the DfT feels like getting around to it.
