Piece of advice, having multiple nics on the same board will save you from the upstream switchports failing but it's very rare for a single port(esp. on a sfp/sfp+ NIC) to fail with the rest still working, it's more likely to take the whole card down.

I disagree about the packaging being overkill. I received a pair of servers and a SAN (fully populated) last week, and they arrived by 'air mail' off the truck. I really should go see if we have security camera footage of that. The record was back in the fujitsu-siemens days where I got a 1U server where it was sheared sideways by about 4mm - the top and bottom were still flat and parallel, but the disk couldn't go in because the slots had become parallelograms rather than rectangular holes. The fake theft footage was fine, and I did chuckle a bit.

I wathed BTNHD did a few sessions with the SR650 some time ago and I really liked the server and I cant wait for you to do a series with the SR650 rack server. Btw,can you do a video on the differences between the x3650 m series and SR650 series ? I'm still very new to rackservers. You should get the TPM module on the server. I also read somewhere that the intel x700 series NIC's have problems with esxi environment and its a huge pain to fix it. But I might be wrong if it just the x700 series or a specific model like x722 or something. Man I would love to own the x3650 m5 and the SR650 model for my private network. (long comment sorry I just wanted to share one of my ideas :D(also if my spelling sucks I'm sorry)) Nice new server you got ! I'm more the HP guy even tho their service is pretty bad. I would also like to suggest 2 things :) 1. What do you think of a community Discord server (discord is a great platform to chat with other people in real time, make announcements etc) I thought it would be a good idea to get help & to talk about new tech 2. Making a website about all the different servers you can buy... I was pretty confused the first time I went out and bought a server because there are tons of different models and it's hard to keep track of which one suits and which doesn't (eg.a r730 is overkill for hosting a website) My Idea is to allow any user on the website to create an account and add a server model for which he then can add his knowlege about the server (or lan switch or whatever). Then someone else out of the community with higher perms could read through it and verfiy it. (I could probobly code half of that myself :D )

I always wonder why people use ESD-Protection when they are not really grounded. You connected yours to the server case but the server wasn't connect to ground at all, so it wasn't really working. If you are are on socks or barefoot you are already great grounded and don't need the armband. Or you have to at least connect one power cable so the grounding pin is actually connected to ground. ;) I am an electrical engineer and do barely use ESD-Bands.

Funny story about the cheaper one you found on Amazon and how they mysteriously don't have that model after they priced it too low. I had a similar experience with NewEgg when I found a cheap 1TB M.2 drive for hundreds cheaper than the rest, I immediately ordered it of course, and like you they had to cancel the order due to some BS reason. That kind of thing is really shady practice, companies should honer the price, even if they messed it up, and not lie to the customer to avoid eating the cost.
