In this video I show Brauneberg, whose famous vineyards gave the place its name. Welcome to a new episode of "Daheim & Unterwegs".
The County of Veldenz emerged from this area in the Middle Ages. After the Augsburg Religious Peace, the small county became Lutheran-Protestant. If you walk along the Nussbaumallee on the banks of the Moselle in Brauneberg, you will come to a small trickle, the Duse. For centuries it formed the border between the County of Veldenz and the Catholic Electorate of Trier. This border not only differentiated the residents according to their beliefs, but also divided them into different legal and tax systems. Only after the emergence of nation states did this small regional border disappear.
