As a quick aside, each of the asterisk songs are for different boss scenarios. The Wicked Ones is the chapter bosses. While Bestowed with Stars and Those We Must Face are the myriad bosses within the chapters themselves. Edit: also can confirm that it's the official title on the spotify track. they actually put all of them on spotify which is awesome.

Yeah, this game has a nice and varied soundtrack, and Battle with the Wicked Ones is one of my favorite Bravely battle themes just for how twisted it sounds. The Asterisk bosses are basically characters that hold job classes (like in Final Fantasy) that your party fights and beats to win the right to use their jobs, and they all play some kind of antagonist role in the story. The battle theme you just heard plays for the end-of-chapter Asterisk bosses, and all of them are some VERY monstrous people. That's why it always gives me chills whenever I hear their theme when the time comes to fight them, because the craziness and eerieness of the music really matches how depraved the villains are. Out of all four main character themes for this game, Seth's theme is probably my favorite of the bunch. It's likely the flamenco aspect to it, but it's also because it's so easy-going and reminiscent of sea fragrance, if that makes any sense. Unfortunately, the slower version of his theme you just heard (yes, there's a faster version that can play in battle) does not play very often in the story. At all. I have to pause the cutscenes whenever this plays just to savor the music. Fortunately, it also makes the moments it plays in a lot more memorable to me. Seafront is the name of the NieR town you were talking about, by the way.

@@JessesAuditorium Actually, it doesn't! Both Bravely Default 1 and 2 are in completely separate worlds and have wholly different stories from each other. They only share thematic and gameplay similarities, so you can just pick whichever you want first. At least, with one exception... there is a game called Bravely Second (which is a different game from Bravely Default 2... confusingly) which is a proper story sequel to Bravely Default 1. So you'll have to be careful with that.

@@JessesAuditorium If you know you are going to play both, I highly recommend playing the first one first. Bravely 2 is better in every way, so if you were to play Bravely 1 after the second one, it would definitely feel like a step down. PS: As confusing as it sounds, Bravely 2 is the third game in the series. It goes Bravely Default, Bravely Second, Bravely Default 2. Bravely Second is a direct sequel to the previous game, but Bravely 2 is in a new world kind of so it's fine to play it as a standalone

The game has also been ported to Steam if you're ever interested! For me personally, compared to the first Bravely Default, the second game is much weaker on the plot, but the gameplay was much more fun. Bravely Default has a very interesting turn based combat system and people have been joking that the game series feels more like an original Final Fantasy than the newer FF entries :D And sadly, there is no live performance of the BDII OST! Revo had joked that it might happen if they ever sell a million copies, but sadly the game never took off that much :( But yes, I very much wanted to request a character theme since you get boss themes so much, just for the variety ❤

Bravely Default did inspire some of Octopath Traveler's combat system, not all of it, just some of it. (The boost system and some jobs; same with BD2 influencing some of OT2's job systems, since the creators of OT and BD work in a similar studio, art style and game design ) Pretty fun game, and Bravely Default 2 changes the formula a bit, from pure turn based where speed decides turn order, where speed determines how many actions you can take before others. (Like a fast job will often move twice before a slow one) Brave makes it so that you perform more actions that turm, but costs Brave Points, if you're in the nagatives, your character has to rest (you get 1+ bp when it's negative every turn) Default makes you block, reducing damage and gaining +1 BP. And since enemies default more often in 2, it makes the game more strategy based when you're of equal level. and there's a "Special attack", where if you met the criteria before hand, you get to hear a fast paced theme of one of the main characters themes and give a buff that lasts for everyone for the duration of the music playing ingame, and you can extend and add more buffs the more you use specials from other characters, snowballing you to either give the final push to eliminate the tough opponent or make you survive in order to set up, any situation really, depends on the jobs you use. And the game has a 1x;2x;3x and 4x speed, so you can use 4x speed to make the most of the "special attacks" buffs!

Huh. I mean I don’t know much about Bravely Default II, but for Seth’s theme, “The Seafarer’s Skills”, I got more a laid back yet passionate vibe from from that. A person that enjoys the little things in life and travels to see more. Well that is what it sounded to me at least.

There are actually three games. There's Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer, which is a sequel to Bravely Default 1. Bravely Default 2 is the same combat style, but basically independent of Bravely Default 1 and its sequel.

Bravely second also tends to come up in musical conversation less than the other 2 as it wasnt composed by revo and has admittably as such the weakest soundtrack out of the bunch. I would probably not be able to remember a single OST from second if you held me at gunpoint.

I really cannot wait to see how you react to other songs from this series. In particular… Bravely Second, the FFX-2 of the series, which is certainly an odd step… and the only entry to not have REVO compose for. In particular, Battle of Oblivion and Battle with Anne Redux.
