Brayton Point Power Station was a coal-fired power plant located in Somerset, Massachusetts. It was the largest coal-fired generating station in New England, and was the last coal-fired power station in Massachusetts to provide power to the regional grid. Construction of the cooling towers began in 2009 at a cost of about $620 million to prevent heated water from entering Mount Hope Bay. The plant ceased power generation and went offline on June 1, 2017.
