Oi Rebeca !!! 7:49 "peroba" (a kind of wood) "do campo" (from fields). ◙◙◙ this song is about "march waters (rains)" that happens in southeast of Brazil, "closing" the summer. the rain is promise of life but in some years they are so intense, and it is about the routine, feelings and even the things that flash flood does and carries on these days. But even though life goes on.

¡Gracias!

Ninguém no Brasil constrói casa nessa época do ano, ninguém! A vida. Genial.

They talk about most the trivial things in life, like a cut in your feet, a car stucked in the mud, a little of lonliness in the end of summer. "Aguas de Março" means water and march - the month name. It's the end of rain season in Brazil.

I think you understood it well. It is a very famous music, part of the "Bossa Nova" movement, which were wildly used to advertise the country abroad. Maybe that's why you have listened to it. Also:"Peroba do campo" is a kind of tree. I would like to recommend two very different thinks to you. The first one is Chico César, a very well known musician with incredible charisma and vocals, singing a capela one of his songs Béradêro - kzitem.info/news/bejne/sqKOqmV4fZuLdqA The other one, since you can speak spanish, is a collaboration between Mercedes Sosa, a wonderful singer from Argentina, and a bunch of really important musicians from Brasil: Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Gal Costa and Milton Nascimento. - kzitem.info/news/bejne/zKh7s6tufmeLdJw

Elis Regina wasn't an activist. Just a great singer. She was kind of rebel like many of her generation, because they were young people in a military dictatorship. But now there is an effort, mainly from leftists, to make her more politically meaningful than she really was. In the 60s, 70s or 80s, no one saw Elis like someone who resisted the dictatorship. She wasn't like Geraldo Vandré and Chico Buarque, both composers and singers who were symbols for the opposition to the regime.

May I suggest you read the original English lyrics by Jobim himself? The greatest Brazilian poet, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, used to say he wished he had written Águas de Março Just in Portuguese, and Jobim was able to do it beautifully in two languages. There's a recording of these lyrics by Astrud Gilberto in one of the Getz/Gilberto albums. www.letras.mus.br/tom-jobim/86303/
