A beautiful and heartfelt reaction from our lovely Cynthia. David Gates said he intentionally wrote the lyrics in a slightly ambiguous way so that the listener could interpret them as each listener heard them. The loss of a parent, sibling, friend or loved one. In his case the song was written about his father. His father passed away before David and his band Bread became world famous. A regret Mr. Gates carries to this very day. As a songwriter myself I can say that this song is as close to perfection as a song can get. Structurally. arrangement wise, musically, melodically and lyrically. To me it is the best song ever written about love and loss. Thank you for reacting to this all time classic song. RNB

Hi Cynthia. I grew up in the 70's and was young teenager when Bread was popular. In fact, they were and still are my favorite band. I named my first born Aubrey because of the words to his song "Aubrey" "And Aubrey was her name. A not so very ordinary girl or name." She turned out exactly how the words describe. 💖 I don't know if you are aware of this, but this song "Everything I Own" was a song written by David Gates as a tribute to his dad who passed away. His dad was a band director and taught David everything he knows about music, orchestration, etc. It's a beautiful song.

I listened to this album 100 times as a young teenager when I lived beyond civilization. The Best of Bread is one of the best collections of songs ever made.

Hi my dear.... and yet another great song by Bread ! This is actually the original version of this song, there are some covers, e.g. by Boy George, who did a reggae version of it, but to be honest, I prefer the original version. Now to your reaction... I could see from your facial expression how much you loved the song and especially the lyrics. And your words ar the end were so lovely and 100% true. You know rhat my friends mean the world to me and I will cherish them for the rest of my life... including you, my dear. Although we haven't met in real life yet (and it's still questionable, if we will ever do), I wouldn't want to miss you again in my life, because over the years, our vitual friendship kept growing and have become so so precious to me. You are truly something very special, my dear Cynthia. Hugs and kisses from your dear friend Gerry

Hi Cynthia! How are you? I don’t know if you remember me. You know one of the biggest fans of Mylène Farmer ! 😭 I was quite far from KZitem and I see that you are still making reactions, could I suggest you some songs of a singer: Tina Arena, she is Australian of Sicilian origin. She’s been singing since she was 5 and started on TV when she was 7. She has for me the most beautiful voice of the world and she is above Celine Dion (for me), she is truly amazing. She sang at the J.O in Sydney in 2000, in the 2000s she started singing in France and in French where she stayed for about ten years. In 2015 she was introduced to the Aria Hall of Fame, classy And lots more ! So if you want, I’d like to introduce you to some songs from this wonderful woman ! Thank you ☺️✨
