One thing to note is that in a one school house or those with a lot of kids it works great to mix and match reading levels. I’m using star spangled banner for my younger ones and it was my 11 yo that was sitting next to me completely engaged in the readings and pictures. I’m doing generations science curriculum and using level 1 for all my kids and again it was my 11 year old who was mind blown on some of the things it was saying. You just never know especially if it’s their first layer to that learning, it’s learning the basics! Layer the Learning with a mix of books! That’s why I don’t exclude my oldest from work I’m doing with my younger ones. And the younger ones get stuff by hearing older stuff too!

I have to agree wholeheartedly with you on the beauty, benefit, and simplicity of learning through literature. Adding in living books, chapter books, quick audio books, videos, etc has been one of the best things we’ve ever done in our homeschool. For skincare- I really like L'Bri. It's one that you buy through a consultant. I only use the face wash and the moisturizer. But the moisturizer is unlike anything I have tried before. I use the green one. It makes my skin feel so hydrated and fresh without giving me an oily feeling or breakouts- which I have always struggled with. And it's only $20-$30 per product.

I would detox completely from things on the skin. Use Toups & co! It’s made from tallow and they have wonderful serums. I don’t wear makeup at home usually. I just rinse my face off with water, splash some rose water spray on and then add the toups serum. Then I use their foundation if I want anything on. I’m so excited for you and this adventure. Every time I try to be more “structured” in my homeschool something crazy happens and I’m reminded that I need to chill. My new thing is “just do the next thing” and progress over perfection. Our habit is regularity. We unschool some because that’s just how I parent. When my son got interested in ww2 my mom bought him the battle for boys books and it blew me away. He wanted more books so I just took him to the library and we watched documentaries and that lead him to ww1 then other wars. It blew me away on interest led learning! I want to be in a cycle of learning but I also am not afraid to get other things if needed! Yay for getting out of your comfort zone and doing YOUR homeschool your way!

Thank you for sharing. Yes, traditional school has its place and I can see the reason it was created, and I do use some traditional curriculum as well, but there really are so many ways to learn and educate our children and ourselves as well. That’s part of the beauty of homeschooling, we can explore different ways of learning. The resources you put together for War of 1812 look fun, you have me here wanting to do the same study with my son. As far as skin care I’m pretty simple I use noxema for face cleansing and Jergens ultra healing lotion, but only when my hands feel dry. I don’t wear make up often so that way my skin can “breath” most of the time. Hope you find what works for your skin and hope you have great rest of the school year.😊
