I could be wrong, but I think Usyk's concern is that Wilder will need a lot of time off to fully recover from that KO so Wilder will either be even older and rustier when he decides to come back or he will come back too soon, before he is fully recovered and put himself in serious danger. I hope Wilder does the smart thing and if he wants to continue, he takes all the time he needs first. Power goes last so its not like he's on the clock. Optimism reigns supreme in the human heart. "I'll get a new trainer. I'll get my strength, musculature, and firepower back. I got caught with a lucky punch" ... Lennox Lewis "He caught me with a lottery shot" but Lewis quit when Vitali beat the crap out of him. They didn't go to the scorecards, but Lewis knew he was done. He was younger than Wilder when he quit. Joe Louis was 37 when he couldn't move Marciano with flush punches and got crushed, "This was my last fight" ... Wilder got flattened by an older man. D's not getting bigger or stronger. He's not getting faster or better. What elite trainer wants to work with Wilder off what he's shown lately? Everyone wants to go out a winner, but stop with that.
