You just described what happened to me... 4.5 months of an amazing, and effortless connection (which was verbalized to me countless times), along with telling me how attracted she was and how things were so easy with me... then, like flipping a switch she said she wants to be nothing more than friends... and then she was gone... not one peep out of her since she walked... I'm left with wondering if I was delusional... I know what was said to me, I know how she kissed and touched me... I saw how she looked at me... and then a straight punch to the gut, out of no where... I gave it a few weeks without contacting her, thinking something happened, and she needed space... then was given the friends speech (after an hour of conversation like we near missed a moment apart)... the next morning I then decided to return all her gifts, Christmas gifts included, along with all of her personal items she had at my home, showed up unannounced to her home, gave them personally to her with a goodbye card, asked for my things that were inside her home, kissed her on her forehead (like I always did), turned and walked away, got into my truck and left. I kept things calm and classy. I have worth and quality. But it still hurts like hell... to not know and understand... they only thing I can attribute it to is her being a widow of 2 years, after being with her husband for 30 years... a wife, a mother, and now a widow... This thing called life Susan...
@SatumainenOlento
4 жыл бұрын
Eeehhhh....returning all her gifts back to her?!? I would take it as a sign that the man wants NOTHING to do with me anymore. It would be hard to think any other way. It was real to her, she gave all those gifts to you out of her heart and you go and return them? Like wanting to swipe all those months to non-existance. That you do not want to remember her, or think or her ever again when you look at the gifts that she gave you. That you believe that there was no real love between you two. I appreciate how clear you were in ending it. And it would not have worked with her anyway (because maybe she was not ready), but it is not a surprise that you are not hearing of her again. This is ONLY MY opinion and how I would feel after that kind of CLEAR ENDING OF ALL BETWEEN US. And she might not feel the same about it. There is also cultural differences. It was very polite and clearly done!!! So much respect towards you for being a real man!!! Perhaps, it was the best way anyway. You need 2 persons for a relationship and she did not want to do it. Then clear cutting is better than leaving it hanging.

Susan, this video and topic was extremely helpful as I'm grieving a big breakup. It answered the question that has been circling my mind day after day. This video helped me find closure without the desperate need to see or talk to him again. That was a big issue since he moved to another state and stopped all communication. One minute we were making plans to grow old together and the next minute, poof, gone completely. Thank you again for helping me make sense of it and find some peace to move on.

Hi Susan, Your videos have been very comforting. My ex-boyfriend and I were together for seven years and I was completely blindsided by our break-up. We broke things off last June of this year because he told me he had feelings with his office mate. He claimed nothing happened between them but he was having feelings with the girl. Even if we broke things off, we still kept on seeing each other, going on dates, even celebrating our supposed 7th anniversary last September. But last two weeks ago, he suddenly told me that he and the girl are now together and have slept together (whilst we were still seeing each other after the break up). So this video hits so close to home as I constantly ask myself was it ever real? We were happy and honest with each other, then suddenly, like being splashed with cold water, he tells me he loves the girl whom he met for less than a few months and are now a couple. I have cut all communication with him. He occasionally texts me, apologizing, checking up on me, but I don't reply. I have been faithful and committed to our relationship but it has really taken its toll on me. I feel as if all the time and effort I've spent with the guy was for nothing. That nothing was ever real. This break up has been so difficult but I'm doing my best to move forward. I'm sorry for this long comment. I do not usually comment on your videos but I have watched all of them. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

Thank you this video helps a lot. My boyfriend wasn't there for me at all when my dad got cancer so I took a break from him, he had done this previously before, not being there for me, and I kept trying to work on it with him, he kept saying he'd fix it and it would be fixed for a while and go away. I told him I really needed him there for me and he was not, and he needed to work for me, apologize to me, make me be his priority to both of us, and he kept saying he loved me and he would do it. Finally I got back to him and he was already back to the same as he was, being selfish and not thinking about me and what I needed to be able to keep our relationship going on. He finally said he did not love me when I was sad as I should have been and decided he just couldnt make up for it, even with what I told him I needed. I did not ask for a lot nothing that I never gave or wouldnt have given for him but he just said he couldnt. Now things are over between us. I never knew the break would cause this. It is a massive surprise, all the while he kept saying he loved me, he needed me, he wanted me, but he wouldnt do what he needed to keep me. I still dont know whether that is real love or not, maybe my love for him was just not felt the same for him? Maybe he thought he loved me but he just didnt really love me the way I think someone in true love does. We'd been together for over two years. I feel like all my effort and love was null and void, not reciprocated the same way.

Hi Susan, you're so right in your insight. There are only that tiny percentage of us that can have that profound deep love. It takes enormous courage. We are all human and have needs and desires. We have to live in reality, what I mean by that we only have so much time and energy in this life. I have experienced this my self directly, express yourself, communicate as best you can, there can be no assurance that the other person feels the same way.

"Profound, everlasting, love...Not many people want to feel that." I wonder how that truly feels like. I have no problem liking someone (Not for sex, but for companionship -- Having the ability to share something of myself to another person. Sex is superficial most of the time. Having someone beside me, experiencing life through thick and thin, is almost priceless). I don't quite understand "Love." We see romantic Love in Disney Movies, for instance. But, is that Love realistic, though? We see all the joyful moments two characters (usually a man and a woman) experience when they embrace each other. (Hugging, kissing). But, why don't we ever see the struggle they go through with their relationship..? We don't see their hardships, because it takes *a lot* of effort, maybe, to sustain a relationship? Sometimes, so much so that it becomes too hard? Too toxic?

I guess the lack of people knowing and wanting to experience real love, with it's highs and lows comes from families who were somehow "damaged" and who couldn't show that love to their kids and now when grown up, they are uncapable to truly love others even when they want to

Yes, I do believe them. Most of them are my friends. They know me. But : Can I fall for men who are seriously interested in me ? Why do I always meet men who are a real challenge ? (Skip out those who are still married/end of marriage etc.... no way !) I feel like a nutcracker wanting to do sth about it. And after my recent breakup with a very good man (there were flaws too on both sides obviously) I lose a bit of hope. Just a bit. But the nutcracker issue turns around in my head. Thank you.

Thanks so so so much Susan for this wonderful video - so short but this hits sooo many issues for me all in one video that’s less than 10mins and answered all my issues of nature of love vs real deep profound love that’s eternal and while I believed he loved me he didn’t love me truly. Not the way you explain it .... that we lived and had a life together and I love your ending and your definition of real love which you say so eloquently that just resonated with me so much it’s like you were speaking directly to me - ‘understand too, that real partnership is only living in the consistency of that love, real partnership means we suffer a set back, I get mad at you and you get mad at me, we don’t get wot we want but I don’t go running away coz that’s conditional, real love means I don’t like you right now but I still love you. Each time you get out of a break up, you learn more about yourself, human nature and you learn more about life, it should make you stronger and still allow you to love because ultimately you are there for yourself.’

My question is if its okay to unfollow your ex’s family members on your social media without leaving a negative impact on them because it is really not about them, i don’t want to see pictures and videos of my ex and his not so emotional party family. Even though I’ve muted them, i still find myself being curious sometimes and it really messes with my head. Love your wisdom. So intense, apt and perfect. Thank you ever so much. You are like the big sister I wanted to have to guide me through the murky waters of love, till I reach the crystal pools. I won't stop trying! God bless you for the amazing help you are to (wo)mankind!!

Hello Ms. Winter thanks for this video. Your videos are teaching me so much I'm close to tears right now. You said that a person can have feelings for you now and then it can all evaporate. Do you think that same person can regain feelings all over again for me. I'm experiencing this right now.

It can happen, just becareful on putting him back in your life, because he can drop you again and just like that the feelings are gone again, I experienced this like twice so there's no coming back anymore, it's just a waste of time

How do you get over the feeling of being used? I didn't know this at the time, but the person I dated & fell for got divorced then went on this dating spree of dating a woman for about 3-4 months, picked a new gal before dumping the first one, stayed 3 months with the second gal, lined up someone new again before dumping the next woman, dated for 3-4 months, and continued the cycle for quite a while. I know this because I had friends of friends who knew him and it eventually got back to me what he was doing. He was wonderful, did all the things you hope a guy would do, hooked you in, made it feel real, then dumps you politely. He stayed long enough for a woman to start to develop real feelings. I know now all of us were just ego boosts & bandaids for his broken heart & probably bailed each time knowing the woman was getting serious about him. This happened 20 years ago and I never got over that feeling of being used to this day. I am probably the only woman who knew his track record because of his friends knowing people I knew. He even had the nerve to come back to me while he was dating someone else (but I didn't know it at the time) and asked after a discussion if we could date again. I was so hurt the first time, I just said I don't know, I don't know if I can do this again, I want someone who has their act together, etc. He knew I was very hurt....Then within 2 weeks, we spoke again & he admitted he was dating someone, (and was lining me up to date), he didn't know what he wanted, and he was going to stay with the person he was with for now. I guess he realized I wasn't going to play his game & he would have to man up....I know I doged a bullet but it still hurts to know he eventually got married and has been married a long time now and I am still single.

Unless he has a solid and legit reason that explains this unstable choice and his comeback, move on. But do not WAIT for a comeback. It's likely it won't happen. Heal yourself.

@@p.r.9982 Agreed. I have had enough of him now though. I called him yesterday to ask him to do me a favor and he ended up hanging up on me. He claimed to be upset over another issue. That does not give him the right to hang up on me! In that moment I immediately regained my crown! 👑 I am a good person I didn't deserve the last four months. But I will make sure and come out a winner from all this hurt.💔 Never again will I accept less than I deserve.💖

If you wanted to fight for it, it was real. Even if you lost, the urge to make it work was enough proof that it was real. However, just like what Susan said, anything can turn around and we're all in this game. Either your ex turned their back or us in the process. Attraction changes and so as our intentions. Reason why people get divorced after 10+ years of marriage or couples of 3 months also break up. We're just not that consistent sometimes and I think this is a primitive behavior because there was a time when our main goal was to only populate this planet, now it's different.

I am not even surprised to hear about the current craziness of emergency coaching requests due to sudden breakups. Venus is currently in retrograde, causing our love lives to transform into a whirlwind of chaos and confusion.
