Y'all be careful; altitude sickness can be NO. JOKE! I was a lowlander, raised in Texas and lived in Colorado. When I first moved there, I was out of breath and ASHY all the time, although as time went on I would get less winded doing things. Going into the mountains, anytime I would get above 10,000 ft it would really affect me (nausea and dizziness). On the plus side, if you stay at high altitude long enough, your body will adjust, and you can outdrink anyone at sea level LOL

I lived in Quito and love it. There are definitely some issues to know about, be aware of: Don't walk down the street with your cellphone out texting; on cross-country buses, don't put your bags underneath the seat or overhead bin. Keep them on your lap. Enjoy, hydrate and rest and you'll adjust to the altitude changes.

I totally empathize with your altitude symptoms and exhaustion. 2 of my 3 kids and I lived in the Andes Mountains of Peru for 6 months, and around the Sacred Valley. It takes a minimum of 6 months to acclimate, and we moved back to America before that happened. Coca leaves!!! They're an amazing super food for sickness and especially altitude shifts, and we chewed them and drank the coca tea daily. Thank you both for your wonderful channel and content. I know the work behind it, and I appreciate you two so much!💜🙏🏽

Thank you for the praise and for watching our channel. Yes, we heard that the coca leaves really helped. We've been looking around for some too but in the meantime it seems my system has adjusted. Well, when I'm not going even higher that is. lol Thanks again for watching.
@BOULDERGEEK
2 жыл бұрын
Chewing coca leaves in Bolivia was epic. I didn't need them for altitude, they just make riding a motorcycle so joyful! If we allowed them in the US, we'd need spit cups everywhere, but it would destroy Starbucks and Stumptown and probably the antidepressant industry as well.
@SonyaWilderWellness
2 жыл бұрын
@@BOULDERGEEK You're funny 😆 I didn't spit when chewing coca leaves, and you don't need to when you chew them with stevia ash. I even made a Coca Leaves Are Superfood vlog when living in Peru on my YT channel, just to share what I learned as a Nutritionist about them while in Peru. I do get that coca are not always easy to find when going North of Peru, like what the Yarbros are experiencing in Ecuador. It's clearly a political move. And yes, big pharma blocks coca from being shipped as the True Superfood and Medicine that it is in the rest of the world. They WOULD shut down big pharma....but....big pharma will collapse...it's only a matter of time....🥰

But other than that we were ok. She did mention there's some parts of Ecuador are dangerous usually are pick pockets there's protest there for ever having protest, I didn't feel like a threat maybe because I'm from the Southside of Chicago and I know what dangerous is in my humble opinion, but Thank you for this video guys what a beautiful view behind you guy, AWESOME VIDEO 👍🏽 can't wait for the next one. You can catch a bus for only $10 per person an travel to places like Manta (beach town), Baños (natural spa city), or Esmeraldas (afro-ecuadorian city). Wow! I loved seeing this hike. Is there a better time of year to visit (I.e., summit weather)?

Those llamas sure behaved nicely. I've seen llamas spitting at people. Recalling my experience in Addis Ababa which is 7,726 feet above sea level, I can imagine your experience at a much higher altitude. Greetings from Africa

Hey guys!!! I absolutely love your content! I am from Louisiana and will be going to Quito for a week. I have my passport, but I need to know if I need a visa.

No visa is needed. On arrival you're granted a 90 day tourist visa/stamp. Have a good trip!

You two are SO cute!! Are you traveling or have you settled? I hope to meet you someday. I'm aiming for Cuenca in July.
