Oh I do wish I lived in Canada, or at least visited it when I could still fly! You do the four different seasons so well and you definitely can’t get them mixed up. Again you got some stunning shots and every one of them told such a strong story, I think the B&W wide angle was my favourite. No matter who you are, what hand life has dealt you, you must have dreams. Rachel, I love your infectious laugh, such a happy sound... Regarding the waterfall photo's, I'm not an advocate of blurred water, I'm sorry it never looks natural to me (my opinion for course)- it loses some of that realism... 👍Cool vid and final B&W portrait version of scene, Rachel. It takes a master to hone in on a good composition, and (in this case) shun the visitor platform as a set-up spot. Do you ever use the Sony B&W effects to preview the outcome, even when shooting raw? Daydreaming is a great way to boost inspiration and creativity (just not when driving a car).

Really liked this video :) Your enthusiasm really shines through in this one!!! Great subject too :) Hope your astropic trip goes well :) Hope you get to take heaps of shots and get the chance to use a tracking mount and/or piggyback your camera to a telescope. Having the ability to track your targets really opens up all sorts of possibilities that you can't access just using a camera and tripod. Since you like taking astropics, I would say to invest in a tracking mount. They're not all that expensive and will really give you that extra ability to take long exposure shots. Coincidentally, I have an image run on tonight, though I'll be using an 11" telescope and a dedicated astro-imaging camera :) Hopefully, the clouds will hold off and I can do my run!!!
@RachelLerch

That sounds really cool. I do have a telescope and I've always wanted to take pictures through it but have no idea how. How did your image run go?
@carltanner9065
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rachel. It's me, Carl. I'm not signed in to my channel as my laptop needs a new battery and isn't running properly at present. Well, the image run on 11" didn't go as planned, too much cloud. So, I changed to using a 5" refractor instead. Also, I changed target to one I did previously. This time, my FoV was wider and gave me a more expansive shot. Turned out OK. Since then, I also done two more image runs which turned out very well. Still have to download those pics, yet. Once I get my laptop back up and running I'll be able to process the shots and post them online.

That was great. I almost felt like I was there. The B/W shot really caught my eye. Question: Did you focus on the foreground rock? Did the high DOF automatically get the waterfall in focus or did you live view the falls to see if they were in focus? I have trouble with these front to back shots getting everything in focus even focusing 1/3 in, etc. How can I be sure everything in the image will be focused?

I was visiting in Toronto from Florida this past weekend and was able to take some pictures at Smokey Hollow and Tews Falls where the signs posted stated no COMMERCIAL photography without a permit. In the Parking area at Tiffany Falls the posted sign says no photography AT ALL without a permit so I did not take pictures there, or did I interpret the sign wrong? I will hate myself if I did, such a beautiful fall!

Hi Jaime! From what I’ve heard the signs are to prevent issues with conflicting weddings etc but a solo person with a camera enjoying the hike is ok. Smokey Hollow and Tews falls are amazing!! Did you enjoy them? Get good pics?

Yes, I enjoyed Tews and Smokey Hollow Falls and was able to get some good pics. The vantage points for Tews Fall were kind of limited so the creativity for finding new perspectives not commonly seen was non existent. Weather was good for photographing waterfalls as it was overcast. I also got a good picture of Le Grand Hermine, idea I got from a video of yours, thank you for making these nice locations known.
