Standardbreds are usually cooperative & hard working; many have a bit of a sense of humor! Chosen with care for soundness, many make competitive endurance horses, and surprisingly good jumpers. They tend to be hard trying horses, and they appreciate & need regular down time to just be a horse and roam in a pasture.

32% are trotters? That seems high although I'm from Australia where trot races are very rare and one state doesn't have them at all. They even don't hold the trotting championship of the Inter Dominion when it's their turn to host that event. The trot championship that year gets held elsewhere. I'm interested to know why there are so many more trotters in North America versus Australasia. What was the name of that Canadian miniseries about a harness track in the 80s
