Can't wait to breed these, i started with praecox rainbows which i've bred at least 200 of. I now have 12 bosemani, turquoise rainbows, and neon yellows I'm waiting on to reach maturity and i just ordered 8 of these 2 days ago. Rainbows have to be one of the best fish for both beginners and experts just because of their hardiness, intelligence, ease of care/breeding, color options, amount of life they add to a tank, etc.. to anyone wanting to start an aquarium i highly recommend looking in these fish Thank you for consistently coming out with these high quality videos that not only teach us but make us want to buy new fish that make our financial advisors cry. Much love from FL💯❤️

Hey, thank you so much for showing! I recently got 15 pseudomugil signifier (6 males, rest female) and I LOVE them. The third day after getting them I put my first ever spawning mob in, checked one day later (today!) and I found 7 eggs already. It's awesome! I'm so excited :) Picking the eggs really is as easy as you showed in your video, even though I'm super afraid of squeeezing the mob out. Can this damage the eggs? Also, I know you are a breeder and have plenty tanks and all.. but I keep mine in a regular tank with other fish (danio choprae). The tank is quite large (200cm x 50cm x 50cm) There are plenty plants in it too, valisneria, cryptocoryne, and Pogostemon Stellatus 'Octopus'. The octopus grows in very thick bushes on the ground and they love spawning in there, started even on day one. I was worried they disregarded the spawning mob over these plants, or that the danios would eat the eggs from the mob but there are still eggs in the mob after just 2 days. So I just want to encourage anyone who has pseudomugil to give it a try anyway :) As I can't get your bug buffet over here in Germany, I use vinegar eels. That has worked amazingly well for my danios, which fry are just as small. They are super easy to keep around and I can only recommend anyone trying. I also feed the powdered baby food from Sera. Happy breeding!

I would say that the mops are soft enough that gently squeezing wouldn’t crush the eggs. If you’re afraid of that, do the “pray” method (don’t know the actual movement name) where you hold the wet object up and shake it in an up and down motion, let gravity pull some of the water out so you’re not dripping, at least.

These fish are so pretty! I always wonder about the mops though, wouldn't it be easier to either move them to your nursery tank or use floating plants that you transfer to another tank? I've seen Ryo Watanabe do this in his ricefish mini-ponds.
@4kays160
Жыл бұрын
Ryan doesnt have 280 tanks full of fish, and 80 breeding tanks, chris would need to buy another 80 breeding tanks and make like 500 mops to do it your way.. but yes, if you are home breeding them you can just put the mop in another tank, or even better you put the parents in a breeding tank for a few days then put the adults back in there regular tank, so the eggs can hatch naturally and leave them alone.. chris breeds for maximum production, so his way of removing eggs each day to there own tank is the most labour intensive way but also the most productive way getting him 100s of fry per couple rather than a dozen per couple..

Mine just breed in a community tank. I never even see the eggs, I just see the parents dancing around in the Monte Carlo. Then every now and then I spot a baby floating at the surface (luckily they always hang out at the surface) and I catch it and put it into one of a couple of plastic containers I have floating on the surface of the tank with Christmas moss in them. When they're first born they seem too small to even eat the powdered food I have, so basically they just survive initially eating the infusoria amongst the moss. I make sure about 2/3 of the container is filled with moss, and jiggle the moss up and down each day to stir up into the water whatever is living in it so the fry can eat it.

Hey, you could try vinegar eels to feed them. If you have a good colony growing, they will climb up out of the vinegar onto the glass (I have them in just jars) and you can simply use your finger to transport some to the fry tank. Only the biggest ones are what you see with your naked eye, but there are always smaller ones within, which even the tinies fry can eat.
