I breed American Bresse have about 200 . I have to say you have very nice stock! I started with 2 of them incubators now I have SureHatch I can do 370 eggs at a time. Honestly if they aren’t mailed eggs the 360 work well. The mail I always have problems with air sac. Incubators with the eggs standing up do better with mail order eggs! Keep up the good work. If you ever have questions reach out to me! Nice job

Thanks so much! This is my first hatch of my own eggs and I just had the first one hatch about 30 minutes ago! I really like this breed and hope to help move it forward in both the Blue/Black and White groups!

Have you processed any of your Breese? What was your rooster to hen ratio on the chickens? What is the temperament of the rooster? How do you like the meat of the Breese? I am currently raising buff orpingtons. They are duel purposes chickens. I do have 12 eggs in my incubator now. I plan on continuing to raise buff orpington 😊but would love to try raising America Breese also😊 Lol my girls get upset when I go in the coop. I use a grabber to collect the eggs😂I'm not a fan of being pecked 😮

Hi! We have only processed a few Bresse (mainly culling aggressive roosters!) I can say that the taste is far superior to anything we've raised or bought! Currently our flock is very small - we have 3 varieties. White, Black and Blue. Our white flock currently has 2 roosters over 4 hens, plus one Leghorn hen. Same for the blue/black - 2 roosters / 4 hens. We have our black rooster in with out laying hens which are a mix of several breeds. The Bresse chickens have the best temperament of all the breeds we have had - with the caveat of breeding stock. The first birds we got a couple of years ago were awful, but these latest are great! We are hoping to double our hens this season by hatching successive groups and keeping the best to breed forward. I would definitely recommend but warn that this is a breed that needs a lot of work here in the US so be very selective on where you get your birds/hatching eggs.

@twoturtleshomestead I ordered 10 straight run chick's. They are about 2 hours from me here in Michigan. My pickup date is April 22. Costly I know but if I can raise enough for my granddaughter to raise it will be worth it. After watching several of the recreation homestead I to the leap to raise America Breese chickens. I was impressed with their hatchery and am looking forward to visiting their homestead when I pick up my chicks.

You may want to look into dry incubation to help up your hatch rates. Much easier process and higher hatch rates.

Just a FYI Hybrids just means they are a cross breed much like a black Baldy calf. Ultimately there moms and dads are both a combination of multiple breeds. All chicken just like if we had a orpington hen and used a Barred Rock Rooster. Just what breeds they used to get them to gain like they do is the guarded secret. Not GMOs nothing is touched or motified. I myself raise the Bresse but we need to quit acting like its a mutant thing its not, we just have to rely on someone else to provide chicks. And they are getting pretty expensive to purchase and sometimes they are sold out. Thats the biggest reason Im breeding a few bresse to use for meat they are also good layers. Not my favorite breed but we wont starve. Bresse also dont seem to go broody very often so using other breeds to incubate eggs might be helpful.

Yes, but how do you really know that nothing is modified? Something is not right about that breed and the fact that they usually do not live past the customary processing age and are known to have severe health complications is a big NO for me. But hey, people have to do what works for them. Also - I'm a bit older and remember what chicken is supposed to taste and look like - I don't think a chicken should weigh 8 - 10 lbs! That's a freaking turkey - LOL. Thanks for watching and good luck with your Bresse - they are truly a great breed.

Bresse actually are several colors - they originated as black and the white was a production breed way back in the day. They are now found as blue, black, silver, grey, and of course white.

$12.90-$15.90 for unsexes chicks? Thats crazy

I agree they're pretty costly up front but they have a higher than average feed to conversion and they are prolific layers, making reproduction easier and at will. We felt it was worth the investment for us! 😁
